The extra video I'm sharing this month is a live performance of a song that I cowrote with my sweet friend Natalie Nicole Gilbert.
The story goes... I'd just downloaded World of Warcraft to check out the game. Supposed to be part of my "research" as an aspiring composer.
This marked my return to games after not playing for years. I was CLUELESS. The last I remembered was Super Mario Kart. ahhaha! Well, ok, not thaaat far back, but almost.
Oops! I edited the video so it's just that one song, not the entire show. Sorry!!!! I uploaded the wrong file. I made a character called "n00bia" who promptly got killed outside of Stormwind in one of the first quests. I died in a spot surrounded by mobs, so every time I revived, I died again.
I reached out to a gamer friend to explain what the crap I was supposed to do and how to play. It felt like such a fool. Hahaha! He found my character in-game, helped me get away, and explained the basics. I kept playing, still super puzzled. It took me awhile to get the hang of it.
Later that week, I sat down to write song ideas and the hilarious WoW experience made me think of these lyrics:
"You walked in and saved me when I couldn't save myself
It makes a great story, but I still can't save myself."
I took this chorus bit to my friend Natalie Nicole and together we made up the rest of the lyrics. Hehe!
For the extra song of the month, I recorded a version of this song today!
