June Report
Added 2018-07-02 17:51:21 +0000 UTCThe last chapter of June was published on the 1st of July, so the June period covers all writing done June 8th to July 1st, a period of 23 days (bringing us roughly back on track from the last report's 37 day period). In that time, 5 chapters totaling 40,656 words were posted. The average was 1,768 words per day, with an average chapter length of 8,131 words. (This does include ch 105, "Notes", because that was largely material that was newly written for that 'chapter', and it didn't go appreciably faster than writing normal prose. I do realize that for some people, that kind of supplemental stuff is entirely skippable, and therefore worthless.)
I had a fair amount of "wasted" words last month, since I ended up writing a few of the chapters twice. In particular, ch 108 and 109 presented some problems for me, because I was quite tempted to bail out on my original plans and go in a different direction. I ended up writing three-quarters of a chapter before deciding that I should just stick with the original plan. And then I smooshed two characters into one, which entailed a fair amount of rewriting. Some of that abortive attempt might still make it back into the work, since there was stuff that I liked, but probably not.
Other stuff written, mostly listed for accountability:
5K into pastoral fantasy project
10K into A Series of Fights Without Any Meaning [WIP Title]
3K into fantasy/military project
Also did some work on Worth the Candle worldbuilding document, mostly in fleshing out stuff that only appeared on-screen for an instant, or in detailing e.g. the fifty-three exclusion zones mentioned in ch 19.
