Note: I changed the publication on Google Docs to be published to the web. Let me know whether that's better or worse. My guess is that it's better on mobile, worse on desktop, but I'm not sure. This publication method is the one that's preferred for more widely accessed documents, since normal link sharing can cause some slowdown. I might just bite the bullet and switch to having these hosted on my website, since I'm not entirely happy with this solution for early release, even if it is relatively painless.

I got it to work by copying the link and pasting it directly into a chrome tab that I had set to "desktop site".

2018-07-02 09:59:04 +0000 UTCJust so you know, for some reason I had a hard time open the links on Android. I think it's got something to do with the fact that I have two Google accounts on my phone.. when I clicked the link from within Gmail, it opened in chrome but then immediately redirected to the Docs app, where it popped up asking me to choose an account, but whenever I did, it just repeated the account selector dialog.
