Greetings Mythicists! It must be Update Friday, because this is my second post of the day with Mythicy stuff :)

I have a preview for you Tier-3 folks. This one involves a tool in Mythic Roleplaying Second Edition that's used to focus adventures. The box above shows "Keyed Events", which come in four varieties. Keyed Events is a combination of two current mechanics: Thread Progress Tracks and Keyed Scenes. I think they combine together really well, with the Keyed Scenes idea bringing with it the concept of important events that are triggered to happen and Thread Progress Tracks designed to keep Mythic from ending an important Thread too early.

Keyed Events are simpler than Thread Progress Tracks, although similar. The Thread Conclusion Event is built right into the new Adventure Sheet, within the Threads List column. That brings this rule from a variation to a core part of the mechanics in MRPG2e.

The idea behind the four Keyed Events is to start an adventure with Mythic fully in control, letting things happen randomly as usual. As your adventure takes shape, you can apply Keyed Events to hone in on the aspects you like most. You can place your central Thread as a Thread Conclusion Event to ensure full development of the narrative, Inevitable Events for things you know will happen later but you don't know when, Recurring Events for thematic things that should happen in your adventure because you expect them to, and Custom Events for anything else you think could be triggered to happen or not happen.

I'm trying to make all of the Keyed Events as simple as possible, so it just requires checking a few boxes and making a few rolls. Other than that, the Events should blend into your Mythic adventures as naturally as Random Events or Interrupts do.

That's it for now! Happy adventuring :)

That's my hope :) The theory is this: you start knowing nothing, not even setting. Then, you grow the setting and your character. Then, you play, and it grows more. And at that point themes and goals and all kinds of stuff will start to emerge, and you can define them with things like Keyed Scenes to further their development.

I think your hacks are very cool :) I've always been proud of the fact that Mythic can so easily be many different games to many different people, and your variations and versions are further proof of that. I always wanted Mythic to be a malleable system, one that played with a player instead of telling them how to play. I hope you keep hacking away :)

I love all the glimpses at Mythic RPG 2. I know it makes all my work to add addendums to MRPG1 a bit silly, but I am at this point having too much fun to stop. I knocked out an article on character creation, and an article on setting building. I think I am going to shoot for a pet favorite next, crafting/quests using the progress Track as inspiration. There has been a lot of talk about Factions lately on Discord so I may see what I can do about that. I want to display public facing faction actions, with implied background actions that aren't confirmed until they are encountered by the PC(s). I also want to import your troup play rules into a simple Mythic Rank section. I will probably give it a rest when you actually are ready to release MRPG2 (I mean who wants to read hacks of a prior edition), but since that is what I am playing now that is what is getting my attention.

Love it. ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Feels like programming a game we're actually gonna enjoy playing ourselves.
