MACHU PICCHU

It's fascinating how when you draw cartoons as a little kid, you think everything you create is out of your imagination, when in actuality there are real life places out in there in the world that inspired the fantastical universes we see in stories. As a story artist, my job is to translate a written script into a visual sequence of drawings that represent what people will eventually be seeing on screen. Along with that, I have to communicate the tone and intent of the scenes through things like camera and character acting. Sometimes not everything can purely be made just by guessing what camera angles or acting may best fit certain scenes. There are times you'll need to go out there and experience things yourself to know how to make a story feel truly authentic.

Recently I just came back from an honestly life changing trip to Peru. While Machu Picchu is definitely NOT all there is to the country, it was just one of the highlights of my trip because I never imagined I'd get the chance to see it. There is just something invigorating about surrounding yourself in a world rich in culture, history, and so different from yours, that it makes you want to create something to inspire others to go out there and experience it for themselves one day.
