Interesting to read your perspective on each of the moms. I like your takes. Nicole is indeed the most unorthodox, being the only one who doesn’t know she is doing stuff with her own son. I love everyone on the list

I actually have no preference and like them all for very different reasons Also, I haven't had the chance the read the latest chapters and my memory is a bit fuzzy. Below is my take as to why I like all of them. Mathilda - She strikes me as one of your most grounded, realistic character. She reads very much like a mid 40s woman from our world before the zombie apocalypse. Her marriage wasn't bad one but not a happy one either. It was one where the couple grew complacent and just went with the flow. She's not described as a bombshell super model; she has her imperfections which I like. Fortuna - Great character. She has some legit grievances. She didn't initially want to be a mom. She was pressured into motherhood and this makes her resentful of her son. She is unfulfilled in her life and marriage. More importantly she is fighting her own biology. Her body craves her son and still she can't let go of her resentment. FueIed by this, I interpreted her actions as her trying to exert her own free will, her own agency against what is ultimately an inevitability and fate, i.e. her ending up with her son. She shows that two things (love and resentment) can be simultaneously coexist. Adelaide - She's great. She's the classic mother/lover archetype depicted in your stories. She reminds me a lot of Seraphina, albeit if Seraphina was in denial of her own feelings, her own attraction to her son and her own dying marriage. Nicole - Similar to Fortuna in the sense that her relationship with her son is conflictual. The difference is that she doesn't resent her son. She loves him dearly but at the same time she is grieving an image of a life and son she thought she'd have against what she already have. In doing so, she takes the latter for granted. She also have her own needs, she is trying to juggle her own life, her career, her son altogether. I'm pretty sure she's the only mother with a job/career and is the only one who is actually supporting (financial) and providing for her family. What's interesting with her, is compared to the other pairings, here both mother and son seem to have trouble communicating honestly with each other. Another point is that unlike the other mothers, she doesn't seem to display any form of physical and romantic attraction (for now) towards her son. Her inner conflicts makes her really relatable and grounds the character in reality. I guess that if I really, absolutely, must choose a favorite, then it'd be her. But again the difference with the other characters is marginal/insignificant. My vote - Nicole The vote was based on looks only. She looks slightly older than the other moms which I like. But then again, the models, in my view, tend to look alike (facially at least) so again there's not much that seperate them.
