Even on reddit and Twitter comments were split down the middle.
You know what that means. I have to be the deciding vote.
After reading your comments and weighing the two options I decided to go with option
B: Show dialogue in a classic VN box.
Easier To Read
Displaying text in this way means that it will be easier to read longer text on 1 x line.
Adding colours and effects to special words will also make more sense in this space.
Cameras
I am really inspired by the Senran Kagura games and the way they handle dialogue.
So I'll zoom the camera in to feel more intimate like below.
Multiple Conversants
I am tinkering with the idea of having other characters appear in certain conversations to make things a little more interesting.
I originally designed the game to be 1-on-1 conversations to be intimate, but it feels a little empty.
I am working through the technical parts now to see how hard this would be.
