Sales Tax Changes (and possible tier changes)

Hey friends!

Boy oh boy. This has been a month. I will delve into that in a separate post, but for now, I want to address the changes to sales tax that Patreon legally has to start implementing.

I know, I know.. fun stuff.

As of July 1, they will be required to charge a sales tax based on where you live. This is due to some laws put in place that seem to have been originally intended for Amazon, Netflix, Ebay, etc., but unfortunately are affecting all online marketplaces. The sales tax you will be charged will depend on where you live and what the laws are. Some states require tax only on physical goods received, while others require tax for receiving digital goods, and others require tax for even being part of an exclusive online community.

I don't want you all to pay anything extra and I want to chat about something I have been considering since last month.

Because so many people are having a hard time financially with COVID-19, I was debating making all content here free aside from the chat tier because that one requires the most work for me. People would be able to pledge whatever amount per month they would like, but would still have access to all photos, blogs, vlogs, and anything else I share. This would also save from anyone having to pay sales tax. I believe in what I'm doing and I think more people could benefit from seeing my posts more often, so as of now, this is where I'm leaning. I would really love all of your feedback on this idea if you have the time.

I'm off to run a few errands, but have a couple posts to make once I'm back with some updates and some fun photos!

Love you all and I hope you have an amazing day!

Xoxo,

Annalee
