HUXLEY in LA
Added 2022-12-30 21:03:15 +0000 UTCI recently went down to LA for a week in hopes to create with fellow artists, work, explore the area and understand a bit more about what it feels like. My family is from Hollywood and I grew up spending a lot of time in the beach areas around LA. I spent a lot of time getting to know the folks who hosted me, which is in an epic area called Thousand Oaks, about an hour outside of downtown. Thousand Oaks is smothered with beautiful hills and hiking trails. Naively, I decided not to rent a car. Fresh in my heartbreak, somehow I ended up letting all plans to shoot and work fall through and spent a lot of time hiking the trails and just hanging with my hosts. We finally did a little shooting one day for an hour or so while I was there. These are a few of the shots that Alan (@deceptiveperspective) got of me (with my pink hair) and Steph (@steph.in.space2). Unfortunately, I don't love them and I don't quite know why. But I wanted to share them anyway. I do appreciate his lens and the feeling of vintage LA suburbia vibes that shines through. It was a new way of shooting for me and the first time I modeled with another person. I am used to directing and spending hours in spontaneous chaos and fun while shooting and being shot. I feel like it's good for me though to keep trying and exploring it and perhaps slowly, I can come to understand where I am headed with any of this.

I used to model so often and it ultimately, if you get a few gold shots out of a fun experience, then that's an accomplishment I think! There was so much buildup for this trip and then when it came down to it, it all just felt a bit forced and not quite the timing I suppose. Thank you love, I hope there are so many collabs to come. I feel it. Headed home to hawaii soon too, so I know it's comin

2022-12-31 03:56:11 +0000 UTCI really like the one of your heads on eachother's shoulders! sometimes i have expectations for how something is supposed to look, and I know when it's not there. other times i don't have expectations but something is missing. i can't speak to what's missing for you, exactly, but i get it. been there many times. hoping you get those collabs in at some point.
