Strip vs. Page format?

Now that Joshie Takes A Big One is underway, I'm wondering how you feel about the new "strip" format? Is it easier to read? Or do you prefer more traditional "page" formats?

Please comment your reading experience so far :)

Exactly!! Everything you said is what I was thinking when I started in strip format, and the visual storytelling did feel a lot smoother to produce. Given the poll results were so overwhelming we will be returning to comic format. HOWEVER I think I've found a compromise 😉

I agree. Webtoons and other online comics in strip format work excellently on phones and tablets because you just scroll down and keep going till you get to the end. However, Patrons' interface isn't designed for, or suited to that 😭 It may work for completed stories, but definitely not page-by-page 😭

I prefer the strip format, mainly because you can fit more on it and have a faster plot progression. What would have taken us 8 weeks to see in page form we got to see in 4 weeks. And that allows you to put in more detail per page and keep each page interesting, instead of it feeling slow and drawn out.

I’m guessing that the audience that likes strip comics probably has read other web comics before over on WEBTOON and other platforms designed for that. I was intrigued with what you were doing since it seems the strip format is the norm for webcomics by and large but requires a different thinking process when it comes to page layout & storytelling that Patreon’s basic interface doesn’t make the best fit for. Truth be told, their page to page system could be better too!
