Another poll & a friendly hello!
Added 2021-11-21 19:28:41 +0000 UTCHello dear students!
I hope you've all been having a wonderful November. Anyone else working on their Louisa May shawl? I recently finished a half-version as a gift knit for a friend-- it was such a nice break from doing some intensive design knitting! Speaking of which, I am writing today primarily to pop in and say hi to everyone, since it's been a bit quiet around these parts. I am happy to say that the current calm here is going to be short lived. Without giving too much away, next month's release is going to be a big one, and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on for you all! Thank you again for being here; I still remind myself everyday about how lucky I am to get to bring you vintage knitting history & patterns as my full time job.
It seems that the poll was a big hit last month, and it was equally helpful for me as I plan out the patterns for 2022. While I navigate through my first year running Squid School, I find it important to involve you all wherever possible, and make this the school you're proud and happy to be a part of. So, I have another question that I'd love your feedback on!
What are you most wanting to get out of Squid School? (you can pick more than one!)

I am frustrated with making sweaters that don’t fit. I gauge, I measure (like the pattern says) and it still doesn’t fit. I just had to tear back an entire yoke of a sweater I began to make because I couldn’t get it over my shoulders. I’ve been knitting 9 years but still have a lot to learn.
2021-12-07 03:54:09 +0000 UTCDefinitely intrigued by the idea of cute, interesting patterns that are a mix of relaxing and challenging. Love seeing the influences and styles of different times, how the garments were constructed for fit and practicality. My goal is to be more intentional with my knitting and wardrobe, and I love the network of people working on similar projects at once to track and cheer on!
2021-11-22 17:16:26 +0000 UTCDon't feel bad-- this makes me so happy!
2021-11-22 14:03:11 +0000 UTCThis is a great addition!
2021-11-22 14:01:12 +0000 UTCI started my Louisa shawl this weekend in a gorgeous Norwegian alpaca and wool blend. I forgot how much I love the simplicity of garter stitch. One thing I'm interested in learning more about is how to size up vintage patterns. I own a few vintage pattern books and I would love to be able to knit from them but they were designed for teenagers and the bust measurements are too small.

2021-11-22 05:02:17 +0000 UTCI only clicked on 3 responses but like... basically all of this? I love how many other people are here who also love vintage knitting patterns! I'm having a great time making the scarecrow vest for my girlfriend without having to deconstruct and completely rewrite the pattern myself, a thing I am notoriously terrible at doing! I love learning more about knit history! It's all great!!
2021-11-22 01:13:18 +0000 UTCI feel bad, I pretty much clicked on all the options. I am thrilled to find patterns, history, community and more.
2021-11-21 22:21:27 +0000 UTCNow remembering that the thought of having some sort of goal or structure every month was also appealing. This Patreon is probably pretty strong because it potentially ticks many boxes.

2021-11-21 21:47:51 +0000 UTCCertainly came here for the knitting and the history, but finding the community potential here an unexpected bonus. And now I have signed up for the goodies, of course I'm very interested! Though it was the idea of bonus patterns that initially had me signing that highest tier.
