2025-03-06 14:56:37 +0000 UTCI love the irony that Regulus got beaten not only because he underestimated Subaru but he underestimated Betelgeuse and his unseen hand. If Regulus had never shown up to that forest, Betelgeuse would of never taken the Sloth Authority. But by doing so, Regulus literally confirmed his own death. Geuse failed to protect Emilia in the Elior Forest but through Subaru, he managed to finally protect her against Regulus. Emilia made a remark in the light novel, saying that this hand would never hurt her when she felt it. The trust she has in Subaru this entire arc and the trust she'll always have in Geuse just kills me! The Geuse snippets were def my favorite part of the episode. In the light novel, Regulus speech was even longer when he was in the air. There was no way they were going to adapt all of it and fit it in. The only disappointing part is they excluded Regulus's backstory and I'm unsure if they'll ever cover it since this was the Regulus Corneas episode. Short summary of it, Regulus was a normal boy in a poor family that consisted of a bad mother, a drunk father, and siblings that bullied him. All his life, he was paranoid and felt that everyone was looking down upon him. He built up this resentment until he received his witch factor. Upon receiving it, he destroyed his entire village and then the country in order to marry his childhood friend, his first wife. His first wife was traumatized that he had killed her entire family and never smiled, which is what Regulus was talking about in his rambling. Regulus just assumed she didn't want to smile, not that she was traumatized. Later on, the first wife kills herself in front of Regulus and only then does she smile. This is what caused Regulus to develop that crazy mindset of having emotionless wives. Also, Regulus's hair turned white due to stress. Perfect death for such a disgusting and vile villain.
