Big Brother was always a single player experience, just download and play. That means the game was often pirated on the day of release. We had our cute little war with piracy, and the piracy won. After a couple of rounds we decided not to spend our time on implementing complicated DRMs and focused on making our game instead. We got rid of the DRM and kept the feature where the game would automatically download texts (events and dialogs). We also had a problem where we couldn't update all game files like images and script, only small text files, so the players had to download same every images with every update.
That's not how we're making Glamour. We haven't implemented everything yet, but today I'm going to tell you how everything is going to work. Game images are going to take a lot more space because we're using layers, which means PNG, a format that doesn't like compression (best image quality, though).
We're currently working on making updates automatic. If everything goes well, you won't have to bother with registration on Mega, or worry about exceeding download cap, checking whether you have the latest version of the game, etc. The game should do all updating for you. And obviously it will only download new files, it won't re-download old files every time.
This also helps with another problem: patrons won't have to bother with unique passwords for the game we sent you in the mail. Now all you'll have to do is authorize on Patreon in your browser.
We're not going to close the game off from non-patrons, people will be able to play the game for free with restrictions, Patrons will have unique content. This will also help with another problem: previously, when we would release new version of the game, pirates were getting a hacked version same day as $40 Patrons, while all our non-$40 supporters had to wait for a week. We don't want to punish our supporters by forcing them to wait, so it's going to be different this time. Everyone can play the game, but if you're our Patron, you get more content. Someone will get access to next versions earlier, someone later (depending on the subscription tier). We'll also reward you with some achievements and bonuses, but this is a conversation for another time.

So you really believe people won't be able to get Patron-only CG's and share them anyways? Really? Even AAA game devs and publishers couldn't deal with piracy, so I'm sorry but how the hell do you think you can?

From what I know, my buddy tends to go to f95zone to get the games and he says "I'm 100% sure, that the website doesn't give you viruses since a lot of people used and chat when a game is release." Something between those lines, do I trust him? not really, but everyone have their own believes. I'll stick with the free version.
