Both Kyoka Izumi and Ozaki Koyo are men in their RL counterparts. I guess they both have Demon stories so it makes sense to give them similar abilities (although a ton of authors have works about demons- it was a thing)

He is most famous for his tales about the tentacle horror god/monster Cthulhu who might be the "Great Old One" referenced by his ability. John, is John Steinbeck who wrote Grapes of Wrath a story dealing with a family who is seeking better fortunes during the Dust Bowl. (mostly deals with the hardships of working class America)
