What does Out of Packs Investing and Trading mean?

Out of Packs Investing/Trading is the idea to make a profit through cards not getting supply anymore because they got a special version in the current packs or replaced by the Gold Version again.

The very basic idea is to get on these cards for the long-term rise and hold until you are happy with the profit. This is very known by now and is part of almost every traders’ basic tools. I did probably around 15% of my total TP through this method, mostly at the end of the year during my exam times as I had less time to play FIFA and needed some big investments. 

From my experience, these work the best when nobody is talking about it or they are not recommended by the Twitter/Instagram scene. You don’t wanna end up with a Traders hype situation. 

Finding the right buy time is the tough part here. I recommend using the supply and demand concept. Most of the time, you can predict some cards with Out of Pack potential before Promos on Thursday already during a peak supply time! TOTWs are also easy to pick up after the game as explained in the earlier guides or through the SB Rewards on Monday.

Sell time is a thing that depends on case to case. The general rule is to hold as long as possible but I always like to refer to the opportunity cost guide and how much you can lose out on potential profit. Out of Pack Trading

Trading around this is very simple! 

The supply and demand concept is very key. As we know, there’s no pack supply, and any price drop is caused by the player selling the card. 

As soon as we see stronger demand for any Out of Pack card, we can expect a stronger rise and higher prices. Very popular to mix this with the Thursday Flipping Guide! 

Also, very important to mention here, Out of pack cards are not drop-resistant. That means, even if the supply through packs is not there, any market crash can still hit them and make a drop. Many traders forget that and end up losing many coins. 

Special Cards Out of Packs

There's also the case of Special Cards going out of packs after a promo end. This is a very basic concept of supply and demand again, if you think a card can still have solid demand after going out of packs, then you can expect a price rise. 

Sometimes it’s a bit tricky to understand which cards this will be as some got supplied heavily throughout the promo and could get low when people decide to sell them. We usually see this happen when multiple promos are coming back-to-back as people get more meta and unique cards -> don’t want to use the old ones.

In general, you can expect a rise if a promo card is fixing a known issue for squad building. We usually have a general low supply for any RB or RW from Ligue 1, Serie A, or Bundesliga, but there are more cases with many other cards fixing these “empty” positions.
