Arc 1, Subaru quickly attached to Emilia cos of physical attraction but also attraction to her Day 1 kindness. He fell for her selfless nature, with the way she saved him on his shitty first day in this foreign world and when he witnessed her helping the appa man's daughter. Every loop, even without her meeting him.. Emilia saved that girl. Think about it from his perspective - he's forcefully transported to a foreign world (with no money, job and home, no understanding of the language and culture), has a terrible first day, is mugged in a back alley and almost killed.. yet is saved by Emilia. The first act of kindness in this world. She had no reason to help him, but she did it anyway. Ok, that's Arc 1 alone. In Arc 2 with the Mansion specifically is where Subaru's love for Emilia was fully established. She was the one who was always on his side and trusted him no matter what. Every loop, while Subaru was dying from mabeast curses, being brutally murdered by Rem.. all the while he's stressing tf out to gain the trust of everyone.. Emilia was his one consistent point of happiness. She never suspected him, always trusted him and wanted the best for him. I'd imagine that's gotta be mentally healing to know that at least ONE PERSON believes you and you can rest easy in their presence. She gave him the lap pillow when he was at his wits end acting a fool to try gain the twin's trust. Knowing he was being overwhelmed she saved him by giving him a space to vent his pain, frustrations and insecurities. That's more than enough for Subaru to fall for Emilia even more than he already was from Arc 1. Even Emilia pushing Subaru away in this arc was with good intentions. She said it herself, she felt that him being with her was pushing him to do impossible things effectively hurting himself in the process. She didn't like that he was hurting himself, and blamed HERSELF for getting him hurt. That's why she pushed him away. To save him from himself and allow him to get healed by Felix, cos he was frying his gate doing too much magic.

Rem just puts too much of her self worth and reason for living into other people, whether it's her sister or Subaru, and she did kinda enable some of his bad behavior like letting him run off to the castle after he promised Emilia he wouldn't. Also, since you guys love the director's cut experience so much, fingers crossed you do two a week once you hit season 2. There's just so many good episodes that I would love to see you get to sooner.
