They had dated in their younger years so she had this whole other image of him that seemed contradictory to what she was seeing when they reconnected. Janice is still Janice. Remember when Tony said "Janice only does acts of Janice?" That's just the reality of her character that never goes away. She had built up this false idea of what being married to Ritchie would be like based on this "new" version of Ritchie she was trying to convince herself was real. It was naive AF, but no one ever accused narcissists of being grounded in the head. When he "sent her to the moon" with that punch to the snout it probably brought all that shit with him from their past back and smashed that image of life with him she had built up. And keep in mind, she left Jersey to get away from all that shit, the controlling men, and blah blah blah. Whatever her devious fruitcake philosophies on life are, she is also as much a Soprano as Tony is. An impulsive, instant-gratification junkie. That conniving cunt is no angel. She got her get back. She may have been sobbing a river of crocodile tears after, but she did the most Janice thing ever in that moment by popping him.

It's crazy that earlier in the season Ritchie was mad at Chris because he puts his hands on his niece Adriana, but then he turns around and pops Janice in the mouth. For me personally the show had Janice kill Richie for the shock factor, showing how fucked up in the head Janice has been for years since she was a kid and eliminating 2 issues which were Janice and Ritchie. This was a solid episode overall and definitely glad that it caught y'all with the shock value even though it left you feeling somewhat robbed. Can't wait for the next one which is the season finale.
