Sonic's kart racing games have long drafted behind the popular Mario Kart series. Until now. Sonic has made an aggressive move to cut ahead of his longtime rival. Sonic Racing's focus on competitive races and balanced difficulty is a welcome alternative to Mario Kart World's beautiful, rubber-banded marathons.

It's easily the scariest game I've ever played, and manages to do so while being top-down. It's also just a really great game, with a solid progression loop and lots of surprising little twists. Also: It makes me so happy to hear you guys constantly shouting out Russ at RTG. I was lucky to know him back in the Navy days and he was the same then as he is now: Thoughtful, rigorous, funny, talented, and wholly devoted to helping other people. If you ever talk to him again ask him about the time he saved a bunch of Indonesian fishermen from drowning!
