Sometimes you just want a video game about punching stuff

Stick It to the Stickman

2025 has been stuffed with big, important, and thoughtful video games. You can hear about them on the dozens of episodes we've already published since January. But today, The Resties want to tell you about something else: a throwback to a simpler time when a browser game starring stick people could entertain you for weeks.

Stick It to the Stickman is an arcadey action game that invites you to climb the corporate ladder by punching, kicking, blasting, and maiming your rival stickmen. If you have any nostalgia for the Newgrounds era of video games, have we got news for you.

In the back half, we chat about Hollow Knight: Silksong, a real game that actually exists and will be available very, very soon.

Idk if this will reach Chris, but I listened to part of the feed dropped Post Games but had to stop because the music was too loud and made listening to the words difficult. I like the production value of the music but the balance is off and the music might be better quieter.

I watched Funky Forest like 15 or so years ago and the scene Russ described is about the only thing I remember from the experience

Andrew Kurz

Okay I downloaded stickman after listening to this and it is quite delightful, but I have to point out the fact that you are able to refuse getting a job until you die. There is a lot of great meta humor in this game

I usually avoid commenting before I've listened to the whole thing, but I had to pause at 1:17 and tell you about the gasp I let out at "...and it was called Funky Forest. Do you know about the movie Funky Forest?" BECAUSE I DO KNOW ABOUT THAT MOVIE and I couldn't begin to guess where this conversation is going to go, because WHAT A MOVIE, I'm delighted and excited to press play again. FUNKY FOREST, incredible, wow, Plante truly might be the coolest Bestie Edit post intro: I'm genuinely envious of everyone who saw Funky Forest in theater, I bet that was truly an incredible experience
