My (Ink) response to recent changes and future plans

Hey guys,

The two posts after this one are going to be patron-only. Both will be available to read on Discord (and probably posted around the internet) for everyone but locked here to avoid unnecessary drama.

I know this update is long overdue, and I apologize for the wait.

Most of you have probably heard about TTrick's decision to leave Kamo. I'm honestly at a loss for words. I found out about his decision out of the blue, just like you.

I was obviously (and still am) very upset by such a sudden move and needed some time to cool down.

LSS will continue on TTrick's Patreon. Duo will not continue (more about this in the next post).

Onto some exciting news! I'm starting a new project! It's still in pre-development and will be a while before there's anything playable to show. It won't be a VN, and is very different from both Duo and LSS. If you wanna learn more, the first dev log will be posted here and on Discord!

Clarification about the game engine

In TTrick's message, he mentions "needing to move to a different engine".

I want to make it clear that I never claimed sole ownership over the game engine. It was developed while we were a team. I informed him (both before and after the split) that he's free to keep developing using it.

Moreover, he also has complete access to the source code (including the in-development rollback feature which he can easily complete).

Besides, while he mentioned starting to work on his own engine. This happened before he decided to split with Kamo, it's based on the current engine, with my help. Hence, a switch isn't really necessary.

I suggested making the move to Ren'Py multiple times before, as we knew it would lead to a bigger potential audience. He declined while saying he has no interest in using the scripting language.
