Fig.1: "Working on Duo", illustration.
Don't worry, that is just our way of venting and not a crazy scene from the game. :-)
Hello everyone!
We know some of you are waiting for 0.2 and probably wondering what's going on with it by now since it's already September.
Renders and story for 0.2 are done. We are now working on adding the dialogue into the game, making sure everything is in order.
After that, we will be left with testing both functionality and verifying that there are no errors in dialogue.
We are putting all of our free time into the game, and very close to finishing the version. However, we also don't want to rush it and compromise quality.
It's almost ready, please allow us a bit more time to finish up.
Some more details, for those who are interested.
Double protagonist is a tall task
We are keen on keeping the project's integrity to have two playable protagonist at any time.
Making sure a player can play the game, from start to finish, without being forced to play a specific one. Even though it's a huge time sink, It is very important to us.
Maintaining swappable protagonists means, having each scene playable from at least two perspectives in terms of dialogue and most of the times renders.
Sometimes, it gets even more complicated. Version 0.2 has a scene which is played with completely different dialogues and renders in not two but three ways.
We've also added a new feature to the swappable protagonist in 0.2, but we don't want to it spoil here!
4K Renders take time
The renders in 0.2 are 4K as well (just as version 0.1).
However, a large amount of the renders in this version are much more complex and end up taking 9 hours for a single render (sometimes even more).
This is a huge time consuming task, even when it is done with our two computers. Luckily, this part is already behind us, as 0.2 renders are already done.
If this continues to be an issue, we might have to slightly reduce the quality of the renders in future versions, at least until we can afford better rendering gear.
Days are short
This one is simple, we just wish days had 30 hours.
As mentioned above, we are putting all of our free time into this project.
If we could work on this project full time, we would. But as of now, we both have real-life full time jobs to attend to.
We work on the game every day, and plan to keep it that way. Sadly it just requires more time.
Our first 0.2 version
In direct relation to the previous point, maybe we just had too much planned for 0.2.
This is the first version we are about to release under the clock, and our time estimation was simply wrong.
We will keep trying to release a version every month and hope the next time our time estimates will be better.
New Supporter ($5) and Believer ($10) rewards coming soon!
Both tiers are currently lacking in terms of reward, as mentioned in their description.
The description also states that we have plans for improving said tiers rewards - and we do!
We have something very exciting in plan but don't want to commit on a date at this stage since we are still full on 0.2.
Expect new rewards between 0.2 to 0.3!
Thank you to both our patrons and followers for showing interest and supporting the game!
