Announcement concerning Rise of a Planeswalker
Added 2025-04-02 19:51:39 +0000 UTCFor about a week now, I've been doing a lot of thinking on whether or not it was worth it for me to continue working on Rise of a Planeswalker.
I've seen a lot of loss of interest in the serial, whether on RoyalRoad and my Patreon, and honestly I don't blame you. Even I don't really feel motivated to keep on writing it.
While the monetary side of it is one thing, I don't feel as good about this serial than I once did. There's just too many problems and inconsistencies with it, that it would need a complete overhaul and rewrite for it to make sense.
It was the first serial I started to write and it shows. There's just too many problems with it, and I don't feel it's worth my time to try and fix it. I may try to reboot it in the future, make it into something else with its own identity, but for now, I feel its time for Rise of a Planeswalker to come to an end. I don't want to force myself into continuing it, only for it to become even worse than it already is.
I hope you all understand.
That said, I haven't been idle. I've been writing something else in the meanwhile, if only to distract myself with something new. Its a completely new serial by the name of Divine Slaughter: Bloodweaver - Second Ascension (I may change it if you feel it isn't that good, or if you have something better).
You may ask yourself why I didn't choose to continue one of my other serial. The obvious reason is that I didn't see much interest from my readers to want to pay for advance chapter. (Yes, I know it sounds superficial, but I want to make this a full-time job. My time is limited. I can't put all of it behind something that I can't live off of.)
Also, those serials suffer from much of the same problem that Rise of a Planeswalker did. I would also have to overhaul to first few chapters to make something decent out of them. I just don't find that this is a worthwhile use of my time.
That being said. Thank you for bearing with me and following this serial thus far. Your support has been invaluable. I hope you'll stick around and become interested in my next project.
Here's the preliminary blurb for my new serial. Enjoy!
Cast down from my throne as the Divinity of Slaughter, on what should have been the happiest day of my life—my wedding ceremony—by someone I loved as a brother, I found myself back in the Mortal Realm a thousand years after my ascension, my powers all but gone, the world entirely different from what I remembered.
For one, my legacy had been erased, with no one to remember my mortal name—not even myself. The land itself had changed, with a massive tower erected in the core of the continent, its summit concealed by the ever-raging storms up in the sky, seemingly reaching up to the Divine Realm.
A Bridge to Ascension—one that didn’t exist my first time around.
Five Ancestral Tribes vied for dominion over this tower, seeking a Path to Ascension for one of their own—a chance to reach the Realm of the Gods. However, that chance was mine to take—and no one else’s. A shortcut toward my revenge.
There was only one problem.
This whole system had been created by a whimsical, newly-enthroned deity—The God of Games, as he like to call himself. Unaware as to what he hoped to achieve with all this, but with no other choice, I could only climb that tower, one step at a time, to take back what was rightfully mine.
