Homemade [TodoBakuMido]

Katsuki grunted when the delicate little teacup landed on the coffee table before him. Without taking his eyes off his laptop, he reached out, lips twitching when he heard the quiet little laugh. Shouto wasn’t one to show off his emotions, Katsuki felt him on that one, so those rare moments where he got a laugh were pure joy.

Shouto accepted the hand, pressing it to his cheek, and Katsuki finally looked up in response. Shouto had a lot of little tells, from the way he sat to the way he spoke, and especially, the way he silently asked for affection with his actions. Usually he just took the hand and squeezed it lightly, acknowledging the silent thanks, but every so often he would take it ask more of an invitation, slotting himself in for a hug or a kiss.

“C’mere,” Katsuki mumbled, shifting over a little to make room. “Sit.”

Shouto joined him obediently, keeping the warm hand against his cheek, and Katsuki reached for his tea with the other to take a sip.

When they’d first gotten together, Shouto had been apprehensive around boiling water – understandably, Katsuki figured – but over time he’d managed to face his fear, had watched Katsuki use the kettle a thousand times to confirm he couldn’t screw it up, and finally had managed to give it a try.

The first few times he’d used it, Katsuki had showed him how to switch it off a little early, to use the water while it was still warm rather than boiling. The lukewarm cups of tea Shouto had proudly made him had been more than worth the smile Shouto gave him when he drank it. And now, after a few years together, it was Shouto’s favourite way to show his love. Neither of them were good with words, but those steaming-hot cups of tea reminded both of them of everything they’d been through.

When Shouto released his grip, Katsuki shifted the arm to his waist, pulling him in tight to his side.

“No fair, stop cuddling without me!” Izuku insisted, diving across their laps with a grin. “Stop leaving me out!”

Katsuki snorted, but he draped an arm over Izuku’s body all the same, wrapping him in an awkward hug around the ass. Izuku beamed at the pair, snuggling in closer when Shouto stroked his hair, resting his own head on Katsuki’s shoulder.

The rattling of metal from the kitchen broke their reverie, Izuku leaping up again to go stop the pots from boiling over, and Katsuki could only smile fondly as he watched him go.

“Dinner in five!” he called back, grabbing plates from the cupboard. “We eating on the couch?”

“Yes,” Shouto answered, before Katsuki could protest. “It’s a snuggle dinner day.”

“Sounds good!”

“You guys are a mess,” Katsuki huffed, squeezing Shouto a little tighter all the same.

“Yeah, dunno what you see in us,” Shouto hummed, nuzzling into Katsuki’s neck lightly. “Surprised you’ve lasted this long.”

“Cut it out, that tickles.”

Shouto smiled again, turning his head to repeat the action, making Katsuki squirm and whine. It was just too easy to torment the guy, Shouto couldn’t help himself.

“Incoming!”

Izuku showed up with three plates balanced in his arms, squatting down to let his boyfriends take them before he settled in on Katsuki’s other side. He somehow managed the whole process without spilling a drop, and Katsuki was slightly impressed, even though he’d never say it out loud.

Izuku shoved his way into Katsuki’s side, contorting himself to snuggle in as much as possible while he ate, and Katsuki huffed at him quietly. With one of them on each arm, he had nothing left to eat with, stuck with the impossible decision of which boyfriend to let go of so he’d have a hand free.

“It’s his turn,” Shouto said knowingly, sitting up a little to balance his plate on his knees. “I’ll wait.”

“You can eat first,” Izuku giggled. “Use both hands, we’ll cope.”

Katsuki nodded faintly, retracting both arms to pick up his cutlery, and Izuku picked up the TV remote to find something to watch as they ate. He settled on the news, watching the recap of their day’s work, but Katsuki barely heard a word of it.

In his lap was a plate of hot grilled beef, seasoned liberally with the bright red spice concoction Katsuki liked so much. Neither of his boyfriends were a fan of the spicy flavours Katsuki loved, but Izuku never failed to work them into Katsuki’s share at every opportunity. He’d learned to cook from his mother, a long time ago, and had apparently taken in the same selfless attitude she had too, always putting in that little bit of extra effort to make things just right for each person.

There was soba on his plate too – though it was the hot kind that they all liked rather than the cold that Shouto alone preferred – tossed together with fresh vegetables and a sweet-smelling sauce that made Katsuki’s mouth water. And finally, a set of little round rice balls on the side, because Izuku was determined that every meal needed rice, even if you already had noodles. The damn nerd had even cut out tiny flakes of seaweed to poke onto them, giving each one a cute little angry face.

When he glanced over, he found shocked faces on Shouto’s, and happy faces on Izuku’s own. What a damn sap.

“Everything okay, Kacchan?”

“Yeah.”

“Is something wrong with the food?”

“No, it’s... perfect.”

He took a bite to prove his point, and Izuku smiled faintly, leaning in to kiss his cheek.

“I hope you like it.”

“I always do. You two spoil me with all this shit.”

“Huh? What are you talking about?”

Katsuki shrugged, taking another bite, and Izuku didn’t pursue it. Shouto leaned in from his other side, and Katsuki shifted his plate a little to make room, letting Shouto share in his warmth as he ate.

He finished the last of his tea as they ate, setting his mug back down with an almost reverent touch, and the moment his plate was clear Shouto was taking it away, clearing their dirty dishes out to the kitchen to rinse.

“Hugs?” Izuku asked, pouting cutely. “Please, Kacchan?”

“You don’t have to ask,” Katsuki reminded him, pulling him in close. “Whenever is fine.”

“But I like hearing you say yes.”

Katsuki snorted, but he snuggled in all the same, resting his face on Izuku’s soft hair.

“Thanks for always cooking for me.”

“Of course, Kacchan! I like doing it!”

“Everyone at work lives off shitty convenience store meals, but I have homemade lunches every day, and I come home to a hot cooked dinner. I don’t deserve you.”

“You more than deserve me, Kacchan,” Izuku giggled. “What’s gotten into you today?”

“Nothin’, it’s fine,” Katsuki huffed. “Just... Thanks.”

“You’re welcome, Kacchan. I love you.”

“Love you too.”

“Leaving me out?” Shouto asked flatly, dropping back onto his cushion and grabbing Katsuki’s arm. “Give me this.”

Katsuki snorted, but absorbed Shouto into the pile all the same, letting them each take over one of his sides like he was just a pillow to be claimed. He leaned over and kissed Shouto’s head next, in a moment of weakness, and felt the cheek twitch against his chest as he smiled.

“Thanks for always bringing me tea,” he murmured. “Sorry I can’t do anything in return.”

“What are you talking about?” Shouto snorted. “I’m the one who can’t do anything but pour some water in a mug.”

“Is that what you’ve been thinking?” Izuku gawked. “Kacchan, no! It’s not like that!”

“You make us food, Shou makes us tea, I just sit on the couch like an idiot. I’m shit at this relationship thing.”

“You give the best hugs,” Shouto answered, without hesitation. “We want you on the couch, it’s hard enough to make you sit still without you having to cook or make tea.”

“Yeah, me and Shouto are awful at cuddling,” Izuku giggled. “We can never find a position where we’re both comfortable, we have to take turns. You manage to make it work for us both!”

“Mm-hm, I don’t know how you do it.”

Katsuki huffed quietly, but Izuku didn’t give him a chance to interject.

“And you’re our rock! When I’ve had a bad day, I know you’ll sit me in your lap or cuddle with me in bed and you’ll listen to me complain, and then you’ll tell me ‘fuck them’ and reassure me and help me figure out what to do next.”

“I don’t know what to do when he cries, but you always do.”

“I don’t even realise Shouto is upset half the time, but you’re already consoling him by the time I realise something is off!”

“I don’t know what we’d do without you,” Shouto said solemnly. “Making you tea is nothing on everything you do for me. I wouldn’t even be able to make tea without you being so patient with me.”

“I guess.”

Izuku climbed into his lap, wrapping himself firmly around Katsuki’s core, and with a little smile Shouto lifted up onto his knees, draping himself over top of them both lazily. Katsuki couldn’t help but chuckle at them as they clung, conceding a little nod as he hugged them back.

“Fine,” he conceded, kissing each of them on the cheek. “If that’s all you need, I can do that.”

“It’s more than I could ever ask for,” Izuku assured him, beaming. “I love you, Kacchan.”

“Love you, ‘Tsuki.”

“Yeah,” Katsuki whispered. “I love you too. Both of you.”

When his limbs began to go numb from their weight, Katsuki wrapped an arm around each of their waists, hitching them up over his shoulders to carry to the bedroom. The laughter that came out of them both was infectious, Katsuki couldn’t help but grin back as he threw them both onto the mattress and crawled up into the middle.

“I always felt bad that you always let me sleep in the middle,” he hummed, getting comfortable and holding out his arms for them. “I guess it’s not just for me, huh?”

The pair collapsed on top of him happily, resting their heads on each side of their chest, and Katsuki shifted his hands to comb lazily through their hair. Izuku shut his eyes first, sighing contentedly, and Shouto wasn’t far behind, giving Katsuki a last little smile before he settled in to snooze.

For a long time, Katsuki just stared there, watching his partners doze off on top of him with a smile that no one else would ever see on him, so content and soft and full of gross, sappy love.

If this was all they wanted, he was more than happy to deliver.
