So, I know you remember how Sakura was given away to the other mage family right. You were annoyed and pissed by it, reasonable. But! The reason for that is because of an investment of your craft and legacy. Most mages in general can only choose one child to inherit the magecraft/crest. Which Tokiyomi said, that both Sakura and Rin's potential was literally a double diamond. Yet one of them cost too much to polish and refined, especially two in fact. So, giving away his other daughter away to the Matou family household is giving Sakura a chance of success of being a mage as well with Rin. Now, I'm sure you've noticed in their dead eyes with no life, but mages in general don't really think similarly like normal human beings. The old hags and geezers encourages the youngsters to battle each other, usually to the death. What else, let's see..... In the Fate universe (Nasuverse), Mystery is a fundamental concept that drives supernatural phenomena and the effectiveness of magecraft. It's essentially the unexplained or impossible aspects of the world, aspects that science cannot currently replicate or understand. Here's a summary of the Law of Mystery: Mystery as a Source of Power: Mystery is a "sliver of power" originating from the Root, the ultimate source of all things. This power manifests in supernatural abilities like magecraft, psychic powers (ESP, Mystic Eyes), and even the existence of supernatural beings like Servants and Phantasmal Species. Collision of Mysteries: The Law of Mystery states that when two different types of Mysteries collide, the stronger one will overwhelm the weaker one. Age and Strength: Mystery accumulates over time, meaning older Mysteries tend to be stronger than newer ones. This is why ancient beings or items with long histories possess significant Mystery. (Also, not much a spoiler since you won't even know who this is nor an anime or referenced in all Nasuverse media) (By the way, there maybe a movie coming for another Nasu's works but they need to finish up Demon Slayer's movie first and his Fate/ Grand Order game storyline before he gets to this. Probably not in another 3 or 4 years. Been waiting since 2 years ago cause of the concept movie) Example: Lugh Beowulf: Lugh Beowulf, a 3,000-year-old spirit, is virtually invincible against modern magecraft because his Mystery (accumulated over centuries) is far greater than that of modern magecraft. Mystery and Science: Mystery is the opposite of science. As human understanding and scientific knowledge increase, the Mystery associated with certain phenomena decreases, weakening the corresponding magecraft. This is why magecraft generally operates in secrecy, and why things like creating automatons through magecraft have become less effective as humans developed robotics through science. Magical Foundations: Magical Foundations are theories or systems of magecraft that are engraved into the world and gain strength from the collective unconscious and belief of people. However, as Mystery propagates and becomes more widely understood, its individual power can decrease. Concealment of Mystery: To maintain the effectiveness of magecraft, the world of Fate necessitates the concealment of Mystery from the public, especially in the modern era with readily available technology for sharing information. In essence, the Law of Mystery dictates that the power and effectiveness of supernatural phenomena in the Fate universe are directly tied to how unknown and unexplained they are, and that older, more established Mysteries tend to be more potent.

Aye!! I'm back from snoozing away staying up last night. Didn't get to finish this as I wrote my last comment. Also, nearby the end of this comment, I decided to ask the ai for help to summarize it. I can't really do any good summarizing in general. Never was taught how to use it nor describe a good anime/game on the spot when asked m... :( I think you'll need info about Mages in general, their thought process, etc, etc. So, Mages are indeed usually human/humanlike. Your already familiar with the Command Seals, but I'm sure you've read Magic Crest a few times along the show. Magic Crest to any Mage in general is like an extra organ, literally. Remember last Fate/Zero when Kirei says he'll implant the next Magic Crest, it's literally a live surgery. Not a fun way to implant them but it's the only way. Now, when they use their Magic Crest, it works like an engine, and the mana is the fuel to be use as their magecraft. I'm sure you may have probably thought about it, but it's not like the anime will tell you, but all western (and eastern, lesser used) magecraft techniques. So, "magecraft" refers to the artificial reenactment of 'mysteries' and 'miracles', essentially a form of magic that humans can learn and practice. It's the ability to replicate phenomena that are normally exclusive to inhuman beings or beyond the scope of human understanding, but through human-developed systems and techniques. Reenactment of Mysteries: Magecraft is about recreating phenomena considered "mysteries" (things beyond human comprehension) through human-made systems and methods. Magic vs. Magecraft: While both involve supernatural abilities, "Magic" in the Fate universe is a higher, unachievable level of power for humans, whereas magecraft is the human-developed system for replicating mysteries. Thaumaturgical Theory: This is the theoretical basis for magecraft, the understanding of how mysteries can be replicated through human means. It includes concepts like Magic Circuits, Thaumaturgical Systems, and the role of "faith" in reinforcing magecraft. Magic Circuits: These are pathways in a magus's body that channel magical energy to perform magecraft. Thaumaturgical System: These are the frameworks or schools of magecraft, like Astrology, Alchemy, or Kabbalah, that provide the specific rules and methods for practicing magecraft. Equivalent Exchange: A fundamental principle in magecraft, meaning that the power used in a spell must be balanced by the user's energy or resources. How it Works: 1. Magical Energy: Magecraft requires magical energy, which can come from the magus's own body or from the environment. 2. Command Seals (in some cases): Command Seals are magical tattoos that can be used to give commands to a servant in a Holy Grail War. 3. Magic Formulae: These are the specific instructions or programs within a Thaumaturgical System that dictate how a particular magecraft effect is achieved. 4. Activation: A magus activates a spell by connecting their Magic Circuits to a Thaumaturgical Foundation (a system's framework), sending magical energy and commands. Examples of Magecraft: Reinforcement: Strengthening objects or people. Projection: Creating temporary copies of objects. Elemental Magecraft: Manipulating elements like fire, water, earth, and wind. High-Speed Incantation: Casting spells with extreme speed. Territory Creation: Establishing a mage's personal space with specific magical effects. Noble Phantasms: Powerful, unique abilities associated with heroic spirits. Key Concepts in Magecraft: Origin: A magus's inherent affinity or alignment, which influences their choice and mastery of magecraft. Faith: The belief in the existence of a mystery, which can strengthen the power of magecraft. The World: In the context of magecraft, "the World" is the underlying structure that allows mysteries to exist and magecraft to function.

@ 21:18 Kaynieth would actually, genuinely win. Hopefully this helps for the fun of the small powerscale. Nothing too spoilery. Asides for those who hasn't seen Fate/Zero yet. Kayneth's Strengths: Mystic Code "Lord El-Melloi": Kayneth's Mystic Code is a powerful defensive tool, capable of creating barriers, shielding him from attacks, and even withstanding the collapse of a building. Command Spells: Kayneth's command spells give him absolute control over Lancer, allowing for powerful offensive and defensive maneuvers. Experience and Authority: As a seasoned mage and a respected figure in the magical world, Kayneth has experience and tactical knowledge that Rin lacks. Rin's Strengths: Jewel Magecraft: Rin is adept at using jewels as conduits for magical energy, allowing her to unleash powerful attacks. Versatility: Rin can utilize all five elements and is skilled in various magecraft techniques, making her a versatile opponent. Potential: Rin is considered to have immense potential as a magus, but her skills are not fully developed in the events of Fate/Zero. Why Kayneth would likely win: While Rin is a skilled mage, her strengths are more geared towards versatility and potential. Kayneth's specialized combat-oriented Mystic Code and his absolute control over Lancer provide him with a significant advantage. In a direct confrontation, Kayneth's superior defensive capabilities and the raw power of Lancer would likely overwhelm Rin's attacks. It's important to note: Servant Power: The power and abilities of the Servant summoned by each Master are a crucial factor in the outcome of a battle. Lancer, with his powerful spears and high stats, is a significant advantage for Kayneth. Tactical Skill: While Kayneth has the edge in experience and tactical knowledge, a skilled magus like Rin could potentially exploit weaknesses or find a way to turn the tide of battle.
