So yes people have said the 2006 anime, but to be honest I've looked online and it seems that starting with UBW isn't bad either. In fact, I've heard that the prologue covers information and topics that the 2006 anime didn't even cover. And also, yes a big reason why I chose this is because the art and animation are much better than 2006. Call me a normie maybe haha, but visuals are extremely important to my enjoyment of an anime <3

It is a mess but the inner dialog we hear from the MC isn't heard from us both in Unlimited Vlad Works and Heavens Feel. I rewatched it the old 2006 anime. Man, hearing his thoughts now makes me like him more. I still have the game on the switch but haven't touched it yet. There are also other thing's shown in that old anime I think i like too.
