Maybe at first they thought she could be actually their granddaughter that they weren't aware of because they mentioned how she actually looked like their daughter when she greeted. But that could be just their longing to see their daughter playing tricks on them. Regardless of whether she actually looks like their daughter, the older couple felt less lonely that night .

2025-04-23 22:10:49 +0000 UTCJapanese title of this movie is called "Kiseki" which means 'Miracle'. Kids went to see two train pass each other because they heard if you say your wish during that event, it will come true and 'Miracle' will happen. Right before trains pass each other, they showed montage of not so special things and moments like bitten ice cream, leftover crumbs of chips, dinner, folded clothes, sky, dusting off your clothes, swimsuit underwear inside bucket, family of four walking whom older brother saw at train station etc. It could be those are what went through older brother's mind or just director showing that peaceful, everyday moments like that are actually 'Kiseki'. And after that scene brother decides not to say his wish which was explosion of volcano so that his family move back together. Instead he chose 'the world" instead of his family. So reason volcano didn't explode is maybe because the older brother didn't wish for it 😛
