Another idiot with TDS. People like this have ruined the country for the future of our children. There is no excuse at this point

Ray Bowers

I’m late to this party, I signed up to this podcast because I wanted more of Bret Easton Ellis voice in my life, I always found his story’s fascinating. I recently picked up his book Shards at my sons place. I’m always glad to be the true source of appreciation of the and the joy of reading a good book.( to at least 2 persons.) I always gave my sons a natural access to books, story and film and the freedom to build their own personal narrative to the world. So did my parents yet I choose my own books. I also recalled the feeling if not crying , a cry out the same way as this guy did reading Crime & Punishment. I do know how I felt when the police knocked on the door. Reading Dostojevski at 14. Is really perfect by the way. So here I am at 56 and I suddenly remember having a serious argument with my mother on writing . I was 18 and she told me I could not be a writer. It was 1986. It went something like “young people can’t be writers until they lived long enough to have anything to say.”I remember shouting: Well, Bret Easton Ellis sure can! So now I’m relapsing and it soothes my soul! it makes me happy, relaxed and awaken. I never expect perfection in any conversations. Im looking for pure intent. Then It’s all worth it. I benefit from the fact of not wanting to agree with every theme or guest presented. Here you will find a lot of amusement in the line of thought. The many aspects of my previous and present day dreams of LA is always present in this pod. It has sophisticated tempo, like the ancient Greeks proved that conversations is an art form and splendid to be a part of. Most people are stuck in opinion and runs a certain position or perspective. Listening to Brett Easton Ellis is more mysterious. He takes you on an odyssey. That’s rare.

Pia Dykert

Once I saw how he interpreted the JOY in Kamala, I knew this guy was just a little bit cuckoo. But unlike most on the left, I’m happy for his mom’s and his success. .

Jim Weaver

Hi, Randy's social media manager here. (Although initially he hired me as a copyeditor on his book, which is another service I provide.) To clarify, his PR team is the one that helps book him podcast opportunities, not me. Your book and the marketing looks great. Good luck with your efforts — I hope the film deal happens! www.kristindianesanders.com

Kristin

Eat me, you fucking loser.

Alethia St. Joan

No, but I can tell you what you have to look forward to

Michael McFalls

Even your heavily filtered avatar doesn't pass. Not fooling anyone.

BrienPiechos

Riled? No, people just want value for their time and money.

BrienPiechos

First time thinking?

BrienPiechos

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

Alethia St. Joan

Good episode. I see the knuckle draggers who've been fooled into thinking Bret is a conservative believe this guy is a Trump-hater despite him saying Trump has reached out to millions of people ignored by mainstream politics...

GC

Torturous. Thank God this one was not broken into two parts.

Allan Sherwood

Wasted discussion. The author is just another neurotic leftist windbag making up words to describe a politician he doesn’t like. Bret did great in politely challenge him, but the whole “improvisation is everything and nothing” thesis is ether.

Phillip De Vous

First-rate episode and thought-provoking discussion. More like this please.

Michael McFalls

I am struggling to get through this.

Harry G

We are overdue for a Bret- Tim meet up

Harry G

Hoping Adam reads the comments, wanted to recommend Naomi Wolf’s new book that comes out Tuesday, The Pfizer Papers. Also watch her interview by Del on thehighwire.com. Was listening to a 2022 episode where you talked about this topic.

Sodaheiress

Disturbing how he riles up some people on here… angry crowd. fascinating episode! Great guy. Come back for 2nd!

Roscoe

Nothing quite roils the MAGA crowd like an intellectual. Boooooring.

Dennis

Completely nonsensical windbag for a guest…….kudos to B.E.E for trying to make him interesting.

Matt riley

Considering how bad thing have gotten over the last 4 years they have a valid argument.

BrienPiechos

I was thinking "worst guest since Alex."

BrienPiechos

That's when I logged off.

BrienPiechos

Turned it off after he said "her joy." Appears I missed something? This whole "politics of joy" shit is absurd on a level I cannot even comprehend. They tried "weird," and failed. They tried "brat" and failed. So they went with "joy" and the avatar of joy is this hideous witch cop prancing around in a pantsuit and oh-so-relatable Chuck Taylors whose face looks like a Buffalo Bill mask made from old pudding skin? Hard pass.

BrienPiechos

I want you to go find a fucking soul.

slimshadyfan666

Look at how eagerly the lackey adopts the language of his masters.

slimshadyfan666

If you aren't rich you deserve to be humiliated

slimshadyfan666

Anyone who argues politics on a podcast that has always put “aesthetics over ideology” (and sold t-shirts with that statement in ALL CAPS) is a dopey cunt. Thankfully, most of these losers are as poor as they are stupid and can’t participate in ask the Platinum Posse question episodes. Just imagine how they would try to ruin that. 🙏

Patrick

Labeling Trump voters as “MAGA” says a lot about you. How do you know you’re not brainwashed?

Steven Mills

Great episode!

Sigurd Dahl

He’s not MAGA so much as he is anti-anti-Trump; opposing the excesses of the anti-Trump resistance rather than being pro-Trump

Ryan Peck

I don't think he's full MAGA but def red-pilled. And on the side of free speech.

Alexander Quattlander

Bret not liking Harris doesn't mean he is gone full "MAGA"

Christian Eden

Loved this guy! 🙂❤️ Great episode.

Alethia St. Joan

Yo 🤣🤣 he saved it to the end “I can’t stand her smile”

Nick @

I don’t remember any single episode of the BEE Podcast getting so many comments/reactions in quite some time & I’ve been listening to Bret & reading his works since at least 2015

Ryan Peck

“Democracy is an improvisation” Bret: *stabs thigh with pencil*

Nick @

I did find it deeply hilarious that Bret didn’t burst out laughing at the Harris “joy” comment and give us an “ooooooooh Raaaandy…”. I had to stifle an actual real life LOL at that moment as I was running in the gym. Wait… am I saying more after my run???

David Willis

Incredible episode

PETER GREER

Thanks Bret for mixing it up. I liked how the topic was an opportunity to hit all sorts of stuff (books, music, movies, politics).

FlyingWaffle

Writes books and lectures on improv, but can't manage a social media account, and has to hire someone to run it for him. My novel has outperformed three of his books with no family streak house. C'mon Bret, bring me on and I'll give you an episode to remember. Promise not to put anyone to sleep like this guy. Put me in, coach! https://www.instagram.com/bookofquint/

Ryan Dacko

why is this boring asshole talking about improv comedy of all things?

Neil Anderson

This guy is unbelievably boring. i try to listen to all of Bret's podcasts, but this one's really pushing it.

Neil Anderson

Dullest lecture I've heard in years.

JEREMY ROBERTS

He was updating his LinkedIn the whole episode

Happyhead

Alex K would like a word but yes horrible guest I hated him for the whole interview and it’s pretty clear BEE did too. All that Ruth Chris money must buy his publicity runs

Happyhead

Alex was not only BEEs worst episode but a contender for the worst interview guest of all time on any platform

Happyhead

The whole time I was wondering how this guy even got on the pod and how he even gets to publish non self pubbed books as an out of work nobody professor and then BEE hits us with the “so your mom is the founder of a high end steakhouse chain”

Happyhead

Turned it off the moment he revealed his mother is worth hundreds of millions

Happyhead

Does anyone know if you can listen to season 2 and 3 podcasts from 2015 onwards if you sign up for higher level? I am currently a gold member

Benny Wenny

I've been a long time listener to the BEE Podcast. I think this was the worst guest ever. Never mind the TDS, the guest was boring and had a complete lack of self awareness. It honestly didn't seem like someone Bret would have interest in talking with.

Peter Guzzo

Guardian is garbage and why in article do they quote those words alone with no context. But anyway that was 5 years ago clearly Bret has been red pilled if you've been istening the last year.

Alexander Quattlander

“Joy” is the regurgitated NPC talking point.

Jonathan Davis

Totally!

Keith campbell

For real

R. M.

improve this improve that… just get tim dillon on the damn podcast wtf 😂

Nick Not Nolte

Very funny that one of the most outright libs he’s had on in an age is the first to drop a hard r

Thomas ABILDGAARD

He’s flip flopped on that, mainly seems intent on making it a state issue. So standard republican. So much of MAGA is just standard republican, maybe more vulgar, but generally an improvement in some areas i.e some populist labor policies and tendencies towards anti-interventionism. And I think it’s that last point that has really earned the ire of the mass media and political class. The Dick Cheney’s of the world are always going to be far more dangerous than a Trump. If Kamala wins, I think he’ll finally get his war with Iran.

Thomas ABILDGAARD

I've returned to this podcast throughout the day and am finally tapping out at 45 minutes. This is a man that has never been challenged in his life and his spent his entire life in his own head, thinking about possibilities and that he is more intelligent than anyone else. His ideas are ridiculous and he is less intelligent than he thinks he is

Nick

Ooh I think Alex Kazemi got there first. That was really something else.

James__

This dude is just boring it’s not that deep

Jonathan Anoj

so BEE finally had an interview with a grifter

Poetical Gore

“To be clear, however, Ellis also regards Trump as an “idiot” and “grotesque”. He did not vote for him, and thus is bewildered – or, at any rate, irritated – to be repeatedly described as an apologist for him.” https://amp.theguardian.com/books/2019/apr/28/bret-easton-ellis-millennials-white-interview

Ken

Haven't listened to the episode yet, so I'm not sure if your comment was made in regards to the conversation. But, as far as abortion goes, Trump has been back and forth and recently said he is against any federal abortion bans. I think that abortion is more of a political football than anything these days. Even when there's a news story saying it's been banned, it'll turn out that it's only been banned in a small region and is still legal in the rest of the country.

Keith V Whalen

Intergenerationally wealthy 75 year old untenured ex university academic socialist with Trump derangement syndrome. I mean, what’s not to like?

James__

Her joy? Wtf is he talking about?

Nick

He doesn't realize he's talking to one of Trump's base lol. Someone has TDS.. Love Ruth Chris tho.

Alexander Quattlander

What makes this TDS clown qualified to talk about improvisation? Kamala’s moronic cackling is improv? This guy wouldn’t know improv if it bit him in the tit. Now if he said her ever-morphing accent was improv, I would give it to him, but this guy is clueless and I say this as a musician and artist who has been improvising for 38 years. I listened for a half hour and never heard what his expertise in this area is. He never even answered Bret's opening question: what is improvisation? Also do these people realize by interjecting their rampant irrational TDS into their work that they completely compromise their credibility and expose their lack of tact or self-awareness? Bret’s silence throughout the interview was telling. In the running for worst guest ever, or at least top 5 worst. I need a Q&A palette cleanser after this BS.

R. M.

God, the boomers must be the most out of touch generation in the history of people.

Sean Gorman

I’m not American but taking away abortion seems like a lot. In Ireland we only recently legalised it and it was a big deal having it made legal.

Lionel

MAGA's central argument is that if Trump loses (again) America will be over and Communism will take charge. Speaking of the "sky is falling" discourse.

Matteo Persivale

Excellent episode, the problem of our agency -- what's left of it -- in an increasingly hypermediated digital world (and pervasive AI is coming, too) is truly a central issue.

Matteo Persivale

First episode Im turning off.

Cody Elijah

What a bore

Joe Murphy

I’m no Trump fan but it sure is strange to see all these Americans absolutely terrified of what he’ll do… We already know, the answer is not a lot. What seems far more frightening and chilling is the endless parade of neocons lining up behind Kamala and her recent rhetoric on Iran. Take an isolationist over a military adventurist any day.

Thomas ABILDGAARD

Bombing Iran maybe?

Thomas ABILDGAARD

God, this dude is insufferable with his rabid take on politics. Like many on the left, he is yet another drama queen with "the sky is falling" rhetoric. Get outside, touch grass, have a drink and relax for chrissakes!

Timo

I bet Adam really felt on the clock for this one.

R. M.

That laugh is fucking atrocious and everyone knows it. Her PR people probably tell to chill with that shit all the time.

Stephen

Bret sure enjoyed it.

Patrick

Skip this one, Richard.

Steve

Alright I’m going back to watchin’ The Penguin now

Taylor Young

“If you see Kamala as a benign improviser with her joy and laughter, I mean what is more present than a boisterous laugh?” 😬

Taylor Young

Good push-back at the end on the political stuff Bret 👍

Taylor Young

First N-word on podcast ?

Keith campbell

In the interests of balance on the podcast vs. Some of the trumpers who have been on, I found that Kamala fanboy moment rather cute !

Keith campbell

I find it amusing he rails against the algorithm while extolling the virtues of Harris “joy,” all the while not being aware of the fact she was selected by an anthropomorphized version of “the algorithm.” Reminds of woody Allen’s line about intellectuals. You can be absolutely brilliant and still have no idea what you’re talking about.

Jeremy goodwin

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

Here’s one!

M. Nero Nava

Bro who tf do you really think you are? Preemptively calling anyone who has a negative opinion of the guest as an angry virgin is the lowest and dumbest manner of getting your point across. Bring your recycled msnbc talking points over to the young Turks with the other weak minded low t count wusses where you belong. If Bret met you in person he wouldn’t be able to stop laughing at what an insecure emasculated beta listened to his podcast. And you know thats true. He’s literally called out your type as the problem and yet you think you can get on here and act tough to other listeners when you’re the one not wanted here. Hilarious.

Harold B

Interesting! I’ve got an interview scheduled with Randy for my podcast, and was initially a little hesitant to book it because of his reactive views on Trump. The last thing I want to do is add fuel to the anti-Trump dumpster fire that is the Boomer left. I decided to go ahead and give him the benefit of the doubt because he’s written some smart and insightful stuff. I can’t wait to hear how it went with Bret. I’m going to literally listen to it on my morning run. 😝

Brian James

Going to skip this one after checking out the social media of this author, seems like he is has typical Trump Derrangement Syndrome. Definitely prefer the episodes sans guests anyway.

Sodaheiress

I believe this man should check his intuition. Marxism has climbed 100 million souls conservatively. That should terrify.

Caleb Snyder

for Trump being such a rich dude he sure does seem to be living rent free in so many loser's heads. I feel real sorry for people who bring politics into everything.

Poetical Gore

lololol RF: 'I founded the Wyden prize for courageous truth-telling.' ... BEE: '...mm-hm...'

Bookth

Very interesting episode - but the long silences where he talked about Trump and we could just hear Bret's air conditioner in response were bone-chilling. For all BEE's (correct) analysis that the left can be humourless sheep, he very rarely jokes about or engages with the same stuff on the Trump side. WITH THAT SAID, he booked a guest he didn't agree with and had a great conversation. I liked him for gently pushing back on the guy not talking to his cousin over Trump, too. Anyway, been here since episode one, and it's great to hear Bret re-engaging with interesting guests after a rough few months x

Bookth

Improv is spontaneous and mostly comedic.

Andrew Harty

Agreed His obsession with Trump is boring. I

Andrew Harty

It’s more predictive and preemptive. You know that these comments can be smart and insightful but go to gutter city when the virgin dweebs start talking Covid, Fox News, and Trump loving nonsense. Usually I just wait for the comments like that and block them.

M. Nero Nava

Really enjoyed this discussion about where our expression and art operates from. The red pill snowflake virgins get all in a tizzy when anyone says anything about Trump. The guest wasn’t complimentary enough? Jesus. These comments are embarrassing by association. Anyway, I work in the improv world, it’s mostly theatre dorks being “try hard”. But, this interview grounded a very esoteric topic.. and BEE wasn’t even that fussy. We all win, guys.

M. Nero Nava

Oof. 🙄
