August 2023 Short Story Poll
Added 2023-08-27 08:47:27 +0000 UTCSorry for the late poll again this month, I've been super busy with admin work, More Gods than Stars research, short story anthology editing, [Redacted], and Baldur's Gate 3. Oh, and just a reminder, the Last Echo audiobook is out on the 29th!
It's looking like the first Mage Errant short story anthology will be coming out early 2024 (I want to do a simultaneous release for audio, ebook, and paperback), so you've got a few months to catch up on unread short stories on here before I take them down. I'll post the affected short stories separately soon.
I've got a huge list of short stories I want to write coming up- I was tempted to do another Limnus story soon, but are there any other Aetheriad worlds that people are especially interested in revisiting soon? I think Apoptis and Raigon are the only Aetheriad worlds I don't have planned stories for.
- Basilisk Street Issue 1 (Non-Aetheriad): The first issue of the script for a graphic novel I wrote around 2011-2012. Pretty standard "secret government agency" story in the first few issues, specifically an agency dedicated to monitoring, controlling, and shutting down exotic weaponry- linguistic weaponry, death symphonies, grey goo, that sort of thing. After the first few issues, though, it gets weird fast. Whenever readers vote for this one, it will start a run of all five issues over the next five months- but that won't interfere with regular short stories. So the first Basilisk Street month, you just get Basilisk Street 1, but the next four months, you'll get Basilisk Street alongside the monthly short story. Extra value!
- Galvachren's Guide to Ithonian Funeral Practices (Anastis): Pretty self explanatory. (And a bit short.)
- The Last Man (Iopis): A group of merchants is stranded in a Krannenberg mountain pass, with nothing to do but wait for death with the knowledge that, in the end, the last of them will die with his name unrecorded, will be lost to his ancestors and condemned to eternal oblivion.
