New Tier Idea
Added 2021-08-27 12:39:10 +0000 UTCI've had a few people inquire about adding additional tiers to Patreon lately. Up until now, I've been reluctant, because all of my various ideas have been, well, too much work for me right now. I wish I was one of those authors like Mary Robinette Kowal who could do INFINITE WORK ALL DAY EVERY DAY, but, alas, much of my job just ends up being mental health management stuff. (Also, if you haven't ever checked out Kowal's work, it's great- I'm a big fan of her writing.)
Anyhow, I thought of a new tier I could do that isn't too much work, and actually sounds a lot of fun for me- letting readers vote on the next month's short story! I have a few thoughts on how it could work, ranging from making it the new $5 tier and moving the acknowledgements to a $10 tier, to leaving the current $5 tier alone and making voting the three dollar tier. (Access to my stories is staying at $1, no matter what.) So I thought I'd test the waters with a poll!
I'd provide a little information about each new short story in the poll- whether it stars a known character; where it's located, what approximate era I'm planning for it; whether it's a science puzzle type story, experimental story, or something else; that sort of thing. (Not necessarily all of those for every story, but enough to give you an idea about what you're voting for.)
And, if something doesn't get chosen one month, I probably won't discard it, and keep offering it as an option for a while.
As Mage Errant wraps up, I'll also start writing/ offering short stories from elsewhere in The Aetheriad- Iopis (the world of The Wrack); from my upcoming New Weird Progression Fantasy trilogy, currently codenamed Project HOLLOW CRENELATION; from [redacted], and maybe even some of my old, pre-Mage Errant short stories and other projects, if anyone's interested! (I thought about doing a whole tier for old non-Mage Errant stuff, but I don't have enough of it that I'm willing to share to last more than a few months, probably. There's plenty of old stuff I'm NOT willing to share, lol- it's super bad.)
And please, if you have any other thoughts on this idea, I'd love to hear them in the comments!

I’m down for the $10 tier. I personally don’t need anything over the 5 dollar tier but I’d like to be able to better support you every month.
