Weekly Update for the Week of 2/6!

Hello everyone!

Sali here to give you an update on how things are going over at Fox Saliant!  I’m going to try and make these posts a weekly thing again, and I’ve got a few announcements and whatnot so let’s just jump right in.

Commissions are Closed!

Thank you, everyone for your interest!  I’ve got a few messages to get through via e-mail and on DeviantArt and such, as well as pricing to discuss with a few people, but if you haven’t already sent me information or a request, commissions will be closed until I knock a few of these down.  I’ll make another post detailing when they open up again!  Shouldn’t be too long, I hope, but I want to focus down the larger things first (The Masquerade Pic, mostly).

Absence from 2/6 to 2/12

I will be more or less gone from the net from Monday to Sunday of next week.  This is a self imposed sabbatical I’ve been planning for a couple of months now, just to decompress and get away from things for a while.  I will still be working, specifically on the comic and things for it, and the comic will be posted this upcoming Friday as per usual, I’m just going to be avoiding social media, tumblr and the like in order to try and reteach myself how to get along by myself.  I’ve felt disconnected with my own person for a good long while and I need some time on my own to reconnect and re-establish some personal well-being.  If you REALLY need me, you may e-mail me at sali(at)foxsaliant.com or message me over Discord.  I will be checking those once in a while in case something important comes up, but otherwise I will have made myself scarce.  Again, this is only for a week, and things will return to operating as normal the following Monday on the 13th of February.

Patreon and Older Material

Monetization is a difficult thing.  The most direct way is commissions, of course, but I’d like to eventually be able to live off of my comic and associated projects.  Of course, that requires a tremendous amount of work up front and I just haven’t been able to get there quite yet.  Still, things are going well!  I’m going to have to reassess my Patreon goals, since some of the things I’d originally set as goals (Updating VH consistently, up to twice a week) are things I plan on doing anyway.  So they don’t make for really good or interesting goals.  I also need ways of rewarding the members of my Patreon in a more… fanclubby way?  It’s only $1 to join, but I would like to give them something special at least. Still, I don’t like paywalling things either, so that’s a problem.

To that end, I’m going to set up something I’d intended to do a long time ago.  That is, I have a secret gallery on my site (the reason for it being secret is that it’s dramatically unfinished), and I’d like to give my patrons access to it and the means to dictate what shows up on the gallery as I work on it.  Once it’s completely finished, I’ll be able to unfurl it to the public, but patrons will get access to zips of my older work, sketches, concept art, and the like. I’d always meant to slowly dole out these things anyway, but I’d never really had a system for it, which was the problem.  This way, I’ve got direction based on the way things are voted, and I can find special things to add and build into the site.

To that end, I’ll add the first poll to my Patreon soon after I make this post.

And yes, I’m still going to do the SH nurse pin-up and run a poll after I complete that one for who’s next.
