Downed state is a concept I allured to earlier, but I don't think I elaborated on. I am currently in the process of implementing this new state and I will describe how it works here.
Currently, every character have 2 possible states: Dead, or Alive. A new state will be introduced to game: the Downed/Vulnerable state. Characters in this state are disabled, but not necessarily "defeated,"... yet.
In the defeated state:
The "capturing" portion will be implemented in Demo4, and I am only implementing the "reviving" portion atm. Also, as a remainder, only the <heroines> class (player, companions, specials, boss, etc) can have a defeated state. Thus, <minions> (such as the "mobs" in the current dungeon) are not lewdable, but they can initiate the lewd on others.
How do character get into the defeated state? Well, the currently thought is that it replaces the "defeated" state for applicable characters. (HP <= 0). During the "defeated" state, the maximum HP of the character will gradually decrease. When the maximum HP reaches 0, then that character will be "defeated."
