I am a poet, and there’s a constant pressure to enlarge your audience using instagram and facebook. Recently, I deleted my Instagram for mental health reasons. And while I don’t regret it, I have already noticed a massive fall in outreach. So yeah, basically, if you’re a small creator online and your mental health can’t deal with Instagram or Facebook, you basically have to accept obscurity. Because even if your site or blog or whatever has a solid following, publishers won’t even look at you if you’re not doing the influencer thing. So yeah, there’s a lot more on the hollowing out of art there too. It’s ruined a lot of the fun of sharing creative work.
