Smart Bins, Smart City feat. Jathan Sadowski
Added 2020-05-29 18:41:02 +0000 UTCIn the logical follow-up to our previous episode about 'smart cities,' we've brought on author and researcher Jathan Sadowski (@jathansadowski) to discuss what happened with Google's plan for self-adjusting sidewalks and cities with sideways elevators. You'll love it!
If you want to read more from Jathan, check out his book 'TOO SMART: How Digital Capitalism is Extracting Data, Controlling Our Lives, and Taking Over the World' from MIT Press here: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/too-smart

Riley’s point about municipalities’ procurement procedures is incredibly important. I work in that area of government and it’s so important to advise colleagues and councils that some tech “solution” is just the next traveling salesmen bull shit.
