New here? Advent Angels - Steam Workshop is the project these posts track.
I’ve switched artists to Mr. Hoggy (https://x.com/mr_hoggy), who’s building a hi-res, modular asset library for Advent Angels. We’re starting with the Advent Trooper because so much of its kit will be reusable across the lineup and will also power soldier cosmetics across XCOM body slots.
Part 2 picks up where this post left off.
We’ll add staged reveals: the hi-poly sculpt, plating/material passes, color tests, and other details as available. Feedback on each pass is welcome.
Shown here is the nearly finalized Advent Trooper sculpt in its modular form. All that's left to touch up before texturing begins are a few minor details. From there, we’ll move into material definition, color passes, and polish.
This stage marks a big milestone: the shapes, proportions, and armor segmentation are now where they need to be, giving us a consistent design language to build every future Angel around. Thanks for sticking with this project - it’s only getting better from here.

It’s been a quiet couple of weeks, and I owe you all a quick update. We hit a snag with the Trooper’s art direction — the current iteration doesn’t yet capture the presence we’re aiming for, so I’d rather hold back than show something that isn’t true to the vision. Rest assured, the work continues and the Trooper will return better than ever.
In the meantime, I didn’t want to leave you empty-handed. To tide you over, I’ve shared a new sneak peek of the Surprise Angel — a rare, mischievous addition you’ll only stumble across once in a great while. She’s something different, and I think you’ll enjoy the tease. You can check out that post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/139734580
Thanks for your patience and support as we keep pushing toward the best version of these Angels.
You're seeing the early rendition of the hi-poly sculpt's leg and feet armor.

You're seeing the hi-poly sculpt as it comes together. Shown is the bodysuit with the shoulder pads and back plate. Stay tuned as the rest of the outfit comes together.

You’re seeing a low-detail blockout in a SFW diver-style skinsuit—just a silhouette/panel-flow check. Turns out half the Advent were gals to start with. We're making them unmistakable.

Consistency at scale: One modular library → unified look across families.
Rapid reuse: Trooper parts seed other enemies and modular soldier cosmetics.
Hi-res fidelity: Clean bakes and crisp materials with room for detail where it matters.
A representative look at the direction under development.

Stay tuned for more details as they are released!
