What if, instead of a poll, the winner is determined by lottery, a random number generator or something like that? I don't know exactly how it would be done in practice, but maybe it's something worth considering?

I think you should have your pick as a second drawing so less popular options have a chance to be drawn. I'm going to suggest Liara until she's drawn.
