Testing

EDIT: THANK YOU. This format is not optimal. I will continue my old way of posting. Love you. Thank you for letting me take some time out of your day.

so, im testing out new upload layout for upcoming $3 tier comic. Not Roommates, i'm just using the long format as an example.

does having to zoom in and scroll ruin things? I think you also have to hold and drag for pc users.

I'm not sure how it is for for phone users.

Basically, id like feedback on how reading a long file like this is compared to the old way where i slice them for you.

does it take from the experience? neutral? spoil the lower part of the comic? hard to read?

Also state if you use mobile or pc to view please!

Thank you i hope you had a great Christmas and holiday!

Remarkable comic.

Android. It isn't great, but I wouldn't say it "spoils" reading the comic.

TAC

It works well for mobile. I just have to click and zoom in. It's like I'm on webtoon.

Taylor Copeland

Ive heard that's nice! I will look into it.

Mobile User here: When it’s posted as a JPG like this, it shows the full thing then I gotta zoom in, so personally I prefer the sliced method still. However, I’ve seen other Patreon post both sliced jpg’s and a single PDF, since the PDF auto opens for me at the top, and all I gotta do is scroll down. IMO that’s the best method, so people have options of viewing it as a full scroll or the sliced jpg pages. But I’m not sure how time consuming it is for you, so I hope whatever method you choose also works best for you ❤️

Peachy Packrat

On mobile and this works great! I like the long scroll personal. If anyone's having a trouble, click image for full screen and double click to zoom in

andy_snandy

personally i hate the long strips on Patreon. it feels like its more work to get the strip where i need it to be at any given moment. i like side swiping through the images. it reads like a book to me. im on mobile btw.

Wandawna

So I think I would post a PDF as a download and people could download and read from there? And it would automatically be a scroll format right?

Scragon

Personally, I prefer it when a PDF is available so I can read it on adobe acrobat. I read most of my Patreon stuff on my iPad and there is a lot of pinching and zooming with long form. Just my two cents.

Malfuric

Yeah, for what I see, maybe its just my phone that makes it easyer. But, I don't mind the paneling format that much, the narrative its actually very easy to follow!

No issues at all on mobile, at least with navigating a single image - definitely a bit annoying to swipe through multiple long form images, but still totally manageable. I personally prefer a single long image over pages when reading on mobile, but if it's multiple images I'd say pages is better. I don't usually use Patreon on my computer but I tried it out for the sake of science, and it's definitely a little wonky - still totally workable though!

Rachi

I'm on mobile and when I zoom in it automatically scrolls down for some reason (it might just be my fat fingers) but I mostly just see your socials and a little bit of the last panel. Other than that it works pretty well!

Efe Avakian

I would love if I could post long scroll format like this so I could continue the narrative as easy as webtoon but it seems it won't work as well.

Scragon

This works, there’s a few other comics I read that do this. I actually prefer the way you do it, for me it makes the reading experience a little easier. But I def won’t stop reading if you switch formats. 😊

Ryan McDaniel

I use my phone, and actually I prefer this style. Too zoom in you just have to click twice and stays perfectly centered. Then you just have to scroll down, which, for me, makes it easyer to follow the storyline. That way it doesn't stop.

Naroagueren

I had a mid experience, i can zoom and all but for some reasom i cant swipe to go to the next image. I have to manually click on them. Its a little trickier but its not a big deal at all, you can do that and it wont affect me as a mobile user

TheSuperMonsterAgain

I prefer the paneling as a mobile user. Patron isn't really set up for long format the same way webtoons is. Webtoon makes it so you can scroll, can't really do that here

Fanra Gipson

I’m a mobile user. Personally I find the chopped up one easier to navigate as you tend to get mild spoilers when you zoom into a long one and then have to scroll back up to the top. Having said that, it’s not a big deal if the long one is easier for you to produce. 😊 Hope you had a great Christmas too! x

BFox

For me personally long files that require me to zoom in is pretty exhausting

Jargalan Bayarjargal

This works on my phone.

Eserri

I use mobile and I much prefer individual slides as opposed to having to zoom in to the image. It didn't ruin it for me but I wouldn't really enjoy reading a comic with a more complex story and dialogue in that format.
