Sugarplum Devlog: Photos, newsletter announcement, controls, tooltips

First, following up on Ursa Major feedback...I've only received 9 responses out of the 47-ish copies I sent out. So that said, if you've played the Patreon build, I'd really appreciate your feedback as well! You can fill out the feedback survey here to stay anonymous, or you can message me your feedback directly.

If you've already sent me feedback, thank you! And if you have not yet received access to the build, please comment here and I'll reach out.

Second, the official Ursa Major photos are out and I finally have photos of people playing Sugarplum! It’s so surreal to see someone playing something you’ve had in your head for so long 😭

Third, I started a Sugarplum Cafe newsletter! This is for people who sign up for my free mailing list, and every month I'll recap what I've shared on social media in case you've missed it. Patreon will be way ahead of this newsletter in terms of information (I'm slowly trickling it out on socials), but feel free to check it out and subscribe if you want a refresher.

All right, now onto the actual updates! This month I focused on some quality of life changes.

Controls

One of these QoL changes is a controls screen so you can remap keyboard shortcuts as you like.

It's something that's been requested by Ursa Major players and I also wanted to add myself, I'd just been procrastinating on it :P I do want to add more settings, such as alternatives to dragging and dropping, but at least a basic version is ready!

Tooltip

After my grand redesign last summer, my tooltip was only working for orders and display items, so I implemented it for most of the kitchen items as well - domes (formerly baskets), grid items, and jams.

It's still a little buggy, so I have some kinks to smooth out. The tooltip was giving me a lot of grief in the previous version too, so I'm not surprised :')

----

That's it for this month. It's a small update, but I've been focusing on the job hunt and also didn't want to work on anything substantial while waiting on feedback. I mainly spent this month prioritizing commissions, so I'm excited to show you what I'm working on next month!

Comments

Thanks! It's all right - I'm not too surprised. At this point I have lots of next steps to work on so I should be good on feedback for now, but I'll reach out if I'm looking for more feedback. Thanks again for the offer though, that's very kind of you!

The tooltips look nice! Sorry to hear you haven't gotten a lot of responses. If you'd like, I can ask some friends if they want to playtest the game.
