Sugarplum Tea Party, pt. 3: finished!
Added 2023-06-12 06:00:04 +0000 UTCI finished her this week! Scroll down to see the final sneak peek 😊
For starters, here are all the final colors. Definitely a lot less messy than the mockup!

Then came the process of making the logo. I really like the font I've been using for the whole game (Mary Jane Antique, 100% free commercial use) so I didn't want to change much, but I did want to give the logo a little more flair than the regular text. So I traced over the regular font and added some filigree.

I tried a couple of different color schemes, and settled with the top one. I love the pastel candy colors and despite the backgrounds being predominantly golds and warm colors I want the pink and teal accents to really pop.
Here's the logo overlaid with the image; I added a pastel gradient map and warm shadows to unify everything.

But I still felt a little emptiness in the top corners, and I wanted to emphasize the filigree more. You see it in the furniture, but since the UI is gonna be all filigree like I wanted it to be a major eyecatch for the splash art. So I did what I do best and added a fancy border!

EDIT: I just realized that the gradient map unintentionally lightened both characters' skintones, so I adjusted the skintones to be closer to their original shades. And changed the subtitle again because I finally figured out the proper genre for this game, although I still think it could be something catchier.
Some other subtitles I was considering:
- A cozy crafting game (cozy games are in, but I don't know if cozy is exactly the vibe)
- A crafting cafe sim (don't think it's clear that it's a game)
- An elegant crafting game
- A saccharine crafting game
- A delicate crafting game (you can see a pattern here)
- A delectable crafting game (this one for some reason made me cringe)
Definitely open to opinions on what subtitle would be best.
Other than that, it's done and I finally have some official art to announce my game! But first, I'm going to revise the in-game art to match the quality of these graphics, since some of it is still a little placeholder-y. It will take a while considering this illustration took 3 weeks, but working on this illustration helped me figure out the interior design style I wanna go for which should save some time.

Haha I would be at least curious about a delectable crafting game...
