So glad this show keeps me guessing on what'll happen next, cause I fully expected the oasis to be a trap... and was proven quite wrong, fortunately! I dig the mystical/magical nature of these creatures, not sure if their species was ever named in S1 when the Wild King was around, but they felt inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's film, especially with the "Mama" reminding me of the "Forest Spirit," but I could see them relating to Shinto & the "kami" instead.
2 for 2 so far, when it comes to the second half storylines, as they've been surprisingly more entertaining than their preceding first halves... the impressions left were just that much stronger personally. Maybe this trend will continue for awhile?
