Reincarnated as a Sword S1 Episode 10 Reaction

BUZZ BUZZ! Still can't believe how detailed the magic system is, it's very well thought out, from the basic elements & their superior versions to the combinations known as complex magic, in addition to various other types like dark/light/summoning and more! Moreover, combat techniques and skills are also further expanded upon, which makes just excites the nerd in me... the writing for this show is so damn solid!

Fran & Teacher have been separated, having been caught off guard and dragged into dangerous traps, so how long can Fran hold out against the Trickster Spider (thankfully it's not Kumoko, she'd be dead instantly) without the use of skills, improved stats, or even magic?! I do wonder if Teacher will have to expose himself to Amanda & rely on her knowledge/experience to locate Fran... and how the guild's ace might react to the existence of an Intelligence Weapon!

What did you think of this episode?

I'll have to hold off on the LN, gotta keep myself as fresh and unaware as possible for S2 since we know it's coming, but yeah, the magic complexity alone is fantastic and I can't wait to see what else it has to offer for the series!

I just watched this episode again, with friends so they'd get caught up, but yeah, it was great foreshadowing! I did notice a certain somebody's glances as well, but the focus on Teacher as traps like Weapon Disarm were explained was excellent and I wish I picked that up in the reaction, not in hindsight! XD

The magic system being pretty intricate is a product of the source material being a Web Novel at the start, then being re-edited as a Light Novel. It's a lot easier to craft something like that in the written media than a manga or original anime. As for thunder/lightning Fran. Look. Go read the LN. You won't regret it. (I may or may not be able to hook you up free of charge.) Also, i don't think knowing the source material is necesseraly bad for a react series, even though/especially since S2 is official now.

I think the twist at the end is brillant. They foreshadow it by explaining traps, what kind of traps there are, teleport traps, directional dislexcia and equipment deactivation. The info is all there, but then Fran starts doing her thing and we forget about it. We don't even really register equipment deactivation as a threat because we don't see Shishou as just a sword, he's a guy. And then when it starts activating, we're mentally saying the same thing that Shishou says. ''Oh well, this might be dangerous, but we'll be fine, what can be worse than a greater demon or Amanda anyway.'' What a great setup.
