TBE Chapter 115

TBE Chapter 115

The next several days were spent in Ezekiel purchasing all the things that he would need to create a network of cables that would let the family use electric appliances in the whole house. The shed that the carpenters made that housed the generator was sturdy, and its noise-cancelling feature was impressive.

Edward told Ezekiel that the insides were lined with cork, which was why the running generator would not be heard by anyone in the house, much less the neighbors. He did have to pay a pretty penny for the generator shed.

The shed was composed of two sections. The first section was where the actual generator was placed, and the second was where the fuel would be stored. The generator that Ezekiel chose to buy was very large and very costly, costing him a whopping 10 gold coins, but its fuel capacity when full would last an impressive four days before needing to be refilled.

The electric cables that Ezekiel installed with the help of Edward and a couple of carpenters were placed in inconspicuous places and hidden by some sort of wooden covers, and the outlets were placed in safer areas.

The carpenters asked what they were for, but Edward just didn’t answer the men.

After around five days, the cable networking was done, and the next step was to purchase the appliances that Ezekiel wanted to have in the house. Ezekiel decided to buy appliances one room at a time. He decided to tackle the kitchen first, so he bought a refrigerator, a microwave, and an electric stove. For the living room, the television was already set up there, including the speakers and the VCR, so he purchased a large air conditioner and instructed Edward on how to install it.

When all the appliances were set up, Ezekiel turned on the generator for a test run, and all of the electrical appliances ran perfectly.

To be honest, he didn’t know if the generator would last long, but then again, he now had the money because of the trade that he would do with that merchant who was purchasing their spices, so if it was needed, he could just replace the generator anytime it broke down.

Ezekiel then showed everyone how the appliances worked in the kitchen and the living room worked and they were all amazed, exclaiming that their house was truly a magical house.

Edward and Simon were tasked to purchase food items that they could store in the refrigerator and the kitchen cupboards over the next several days.

The next appliances that they purchased were the electrical lamps and an air conditioner for each room. He also purchased electric fans for those times that they didn’t want to turn on the air conditioner and just wanted to have a breeze in their room.

Ezekiel didn’t bother to install overhead lights, just planned to use standing lamps for each room.

After everything was completed, the whole family celebrated by having a movie and food night. Ezekiel chose another Disney film to show everyone, which was Aladdin, then he purchased several boxes of pizzas and several hamburgers for everyone. He also purchased beer for Edward and several sodas for everyone else.

Movie night was a success. After that, he went with his brothers to their room so he could tuck them in. Their room was comfortable because of the air conditioner, and when he looked at Robert and Luke’s sleepy faces, Ezekiel saw their smiling and happy expressions, and he was proud of what he had already done to make his brothers happy.

Ezekiel’s next goal was to lie low so that he and his brothers could grow up without anyone bothering them, and once all three of them were of age, they could start their life of adventure. He needed to become an adventurer because Ezekiel thought that it was the only way for him to level up his wizard profession.

In the meantime, they would spend their years growing up gathering all the knowledge they could to make sure that their future would be bright.

During the next several days, Ezekiel decided that they wouldn’t hire a maid since they had a lot of secrets in their house. He told his brothers that they needed to have a quiet life, not announcing or telling anyone of his magic, so they could grow up without anyone bothering them.

The next few months were a busy time for the family. Edward finally left them to continue his adventuring all over the lands, and now Ezekiel was the one dealing with the spice merchant. He enrolled Simon in a sword training school so that their guardian would be truly capable enough to guard the family.

Robert and Luke were enrolled in a general education school, more for Ezekiel’s brothers to grow up having friends, and because of that, they learned how to go on their little adventures all over the kingdom whenever school was over. Yuki Onna was still guarding them to make sure that they were safe.

Ezekiel spent his days in the shop that they purchased, working on his hobbies of creating different wooden arts and crafts. He converted the second floor into his studio, and the first floor was supposed to be the actual shop, but he still hadn’t opened it. He wanted to have enough inventory so that the shop would remain open for days at a time, manned by a clerk whom he would hire. Not only that, he wanted to have enough expertise as a woodworker so that, if needed, he could just replicate the items that he would sell using the Fabricate spell.

Because of his woodworking hobby, Ezekiel got acquainted with the wood sellers nearby since he needed wood to create his products. The wood sellers knew that he would open his shop soon, and they kept teasing him about his not being able to sell anything. He boasted to them that once he opened his shop, they had better go there early or else they wouldn’t be able to get any of the art that he had created.

When the time care that Ezekiel thought that he should be able to keep his shop open five days a week, he hired a young lady as a clerk and opened his shop he named “Wooden Arts”.

Ezekiel filled the shop with wooden knick-knacks that he had been selling in the villages with great success, and just like the villagers, the citizens of Lonmere bought his items. At least, he now had a cover from where their family had gotten their coins.

Ezekiel was content that their current life was happy and stable, but his wizard profession remained stagnant at level 4, which was expected. He knew, though, that once they’re of age, a new chapter in their lives would start because he knew that the world outside was a dangerous one. The only reason they have remained safe so far is that they remained isolated from the rest of the world in a stable section of the city of Lonmere.

To be honest, Ezekiel couldn’t wait until he could go out into the world and encounter all the magical things this world had to offer. He wanted to live a full life as a wizard, and he planned to do so. He wanted to become as powerful as he could and possibly reach for the stars in the future. Ezekiel looked into the future with glowing eyes and imagined all the possibilities.

Author’s note:

This concludes Book I of The Book of Ezekiel. My plan was that Book II would be the start of Ezekiel’s true magical adventure, but unfortunately, I will need to put this book on hiatus. I love this project. It’s a passion project, but based on what I saw in Royal Road and Scribble Hub, it’s not very successful, and I needed the funds to continue writing. I had started my next book, titled “The Dungeon Miner Slave Who Isekaid Twice,” and hoped that that one would bring me Patreon subscribers.

I truly apologize to those readers who like this novel. I hope someday I can pick it up, but for now, I need a project that will help me pay my bills.

Again, thank you for reading my novel. In my opinion, it’s still subpar, but I’m learning and hope that someday, I will reach the standard that will allow me to become an author full-time.

I remember the very first fantasy book that I read when I was in elementary school. It was the “Walls of Air” by Barbara Hambly. It was a little ironic that it was book 2 of a trilogy, and to be honest, I didn’t understand the book, but I kept reading it for some reason. After I was done with the book, I searched for fantasy books again in thrift stores, and most of my purchases were based on the cover, not the synopsis, which was hilarious, if I think about it now. I was extremely grateful for those fantasy authors who blew my mind with their fantastical ideas. Because of them, my childhood was full of magic.

Please keep living your lives in magical worlds. I will.

I will be posting it on RR and SB but it will probably be a while. I had only written 10 chapters so far.
