One of the reasons why there are two sets of windows is that the frames used to be made of wood, and in the -20 degrees Celsius winters it is not insulating enough to have just one bare window with rotten from elements wooden frame that hasnโt been replaced in decades. Also in the end (girls you see through the peephole) there is a reference to a popular in the past pretty unhinged dating sim VN called โEverlasting summerโ, that is about a man who has been transported in a soviet era summer camp. It was pretty popular and made a significant influence on the post-soviet internet culture of 2015-2016, but now is pretty much forgotten

2026-01-14 21:06:24 +0000 UTCThere's something hilarious and so dream like to me that the character sees something off and immediately decides to jump out a window. I feel like this would be something that I'd do in a dream. Not because there is some exposition telling me that that's the rule, but just something that is an unspoken rule that I inherently know. Also, the toilet closet is a common thing in old soviet apartments. I actually preferred that when I lived in L'viv to what we have here in the states.
