haha TBH that sad feels politics thing is just as true in the interior northeast (NY/PA) as out here. This whole country has a serious culture division problem right now. I, a liberal trans woman, live in a rural area. I am only lucky in that I am also in a highly travelled tourist corridor thanks to a few huge lakes and no interstate to compete with the state route, so there's always a variety of people sweeping in an out. The locals may be spiteful but they are a bit tamer by exposure. Recently the confederate flags did go down in my town, so something must have changed for the better.

Dang. I didn't know that about East Ohio. I never imagined I'd be jealous of an area's naturally occurring lumpiness... Most lumps out here require honest, back-breaking work to make! Real blood, sweat, and tears kind of labor, in the good fight against flatness. (Sprinkling dirt on top of landfills.) But if you get many opportunities, I highly recommend taking refuge in the cities. Best chances of finding some fun and interesting culture, and the lowest chances of coming across signs/stickers/t-shirts with words that... Words that make the sad feelings. And if you're ever feeling bored, just know that there's a timeless, classic game you can play: counting the number of 'opes' you can score by accidentally bumping into the locals.

No matter how many times I see it, it is admittedly always a bit jarring when you are used to being surrounded by hills and mountains every day. That said, also pretty in its own way when it's unusual to you. :P THAT all said, east Ohio still pretty lumpy. But I am nearly in Indiana at this point and yeah, it's flat here. haha

Hey, Skoon! Welcome to the midwest! I hope you enjoy majestic landscapes of... endless cornfields. On. Completely flat ground. That stretches as far as the eyes can see. But hey, if you get lucky, there might be some cows and stuff. And cows are pretty neat.
