The Post processing
Added 2024-06-17 23:49:09 +0000 UTCI've decided to share with you one of the steps I apply to each of my renders: post-processing.
Perhaps some of you who use Daz3D know this, but the rendering engine I use is IRAY. It's a rendering engine that realistically simulates the effects by bouncing light, as seen in the real world. Unfortunately, it's a sad fact that renderings are sometimes too dull and flat. This is where post-processing comes into play in my production process.
Here's a rendering from Daz3D :

As you can see, the main lighting comes from the moon in the background, with a light on the left to simulate the effect of a torch, and a light bluish light on the right to soften the shadows.
From my point of view, I find the rendering too flat, so to speak, just ugly...
First layer with Photoshop :
After a few hours of post-processing in Photoshop, here's the result: the addition of stars fills the void of the gray sky, and the addition of shadows with a blurred mask of the slightly darkened image gives more relief to the scenery and the character.
This work is the result published in the April package, and I find it lacking a little something... not enough blue. The night seems too light.
Second layer with Photoshop :
A few more hours on this render to give it a more whimsical, colorful look, and here's the result: slightly accentuated moon lighting, bluer lighting of the environment and water, and a little recoloring of the orc's body to make it more pleasing to the eye.
This recolored rendering will be available in the June package.
