Glumdark & Exalted. And a Cover by Nohr.

Before I get started: If you signed up to follow the previous Kickstarter, you'll have to sign up again HERE. Sorry about this. They weren't able to port over the emails. Privacy laws, etc.

Also, I'm looking for a 3D artist for a quick collaboration on a Glumdark thingy. If you enjoy 3D modeling and want to collaborate on something, please reach out here or on our discord.

OK, onto the post:

In my last post, I hinted at some changes since we partnered with Exalted Funeral for the book release. Today I want to talk about what some of those changes are.

The most exciting thing has been moving stuff from Kickstarter stretch goals right into the project budget. And the first and coolest of those was a deluxe cover illustration from Johan Nohr!

You can see Nohr's deluxe cover in the header image above. It's the one behind Vil's incredibly badass standard edition cover. I reached out to Johan a while back about doing this as a stretch goal. And now it exists, already.

Just a side note that it's mind-blowing to me that we started Glumdark when we got the OG Mork Borg book in the mail and were inspired to do something on our own. And now the guy who made that book is illustrating the cover for ours. Life, man.

We've also been able to add an actual editor to the budget, so we hired our friend Walt from Liber Ludorum to copy edit the entire book. Which will help me sleep at night, were I ever to do that.

Working with Exalted also means we're able to do a physical cassette release for the dungeon synth record which I'm cheekily calling GLUMDARK Vol. 4. The music is coming along great and I'll write a full Patreon post about it soon. Synths, strings and choirs. Spooky stuff.

Moving these things into the budget allowed us to add things as Kickstarter goals that will vastly improve the book. I'm currently working on a ten page bestiary with long form writing describing monsters and their origins. What they're like in combat. What a first person encounter might look like, etc. If we raise enough money, we'll pair that with full page A5 illustrations for each monster from Vil. It's going to quietly become the best part of the book, I'm sure of it.

But there have also been intangible changes working with EF. It's a different thing to have a team to discuss strategy with. Things get reviewed by more eyes, usually. There's some expertise around tiers and goals that I didn't previously have. It has changed the whole tenor of the campaign in interesting ways. I can no longer just sneak in absolutely whatever art I want. But mostly things have run quite smoothly. Meanwhile, the budget is 8x what it used to be.

In the past couple of weeks I've had to design a t-shirt, poster, cassette cover, Vil drew the new cover, I produced a stinger track for the video, etc etc etc. So it's full steam ahead on marketing stuff. Oh, and I've been writing the bestiary and new tables which will be exclusive to the cassette physical release. We've been busy.

But that said, I'd love to take a break and do something just for the site. If you have an idea for a table you'd like to see, please reach out. <3
