More Location Generators + Spell Components + Book Updates
Added 2023-07-21 17:33:49 +0000 UTCIt's been a busy couple of months, and as usual we've waited until there was plenty to share. So let's get into it.
Location Generators!
We wrote three more location generators. These have been really fun because despite the fact that the underlying code remains the same, we can modify the contents of the three tables to build locations in unique ways. And thus was born:
I just finished reading The Monk by Matthew Lewis. It's arguably the first gothic horror novel ever written (in the late 1700s) and it's a fascinating grim adventure. A lot of my recent inspiration for Glumdark content has come from it. Highly recommend it.
Spell Components
Yep, Spell Components. What more needs be said?
They're components--for spells!
Book Updates
Vil and I are still hard at work on the book. As always, his artwork is incredible and inspiring. It continues to make my day each time he turns something in. The first chapter is almost entirely finished being illustrated.
And! Nearly the entire book has now been laid out and arranged. It currently sits at just over 100 pages. I'm planning on creating Kickstarter stretch goals for guest content--both tables and illustrations. But even without those goals, we're looking at a book with gobs of content and artwork.
I've also been working on writing InDesign scripts to modify the text to appear more like hand-set type with variance and imperfection. It's been promising!
Map
I'm planning to include a map in the book with various locations for inspiration during campaign planning. I've made something serviceable in Wonderdraft, and begun attempting to draw something by hand. Neither is terribly inspiring. If you draw fantasy maps and would like to contribute, please reach out to us.
No poll today. Just keep it grim and don't forget to tell your friends you love them.
