2024-12-15 08:32:04 +0000 UTCAs someone who used to visit the public pool every summer as a kid, I really loved it. And you really don't think about the yuck that you brought up. Probably because the chlorine the pools are filled with that kill a lot of said yuck. Plus I lived close enough I could ride my bike there. Also, yes there are large tunnels like that in some areas to funnel rainwater to other areas if one is prone to flooding. Not all places have such things, but sometimes they were attached to ditches that ran alongside the roads and weren't always that big or were accessable to anything but water...and trash.
