Made In Abyss: S2 | Ep 5-6

Comments

Back when I read the manga and a chapter ended with Riko having to make that choice, I thought for sure she was going to give away half her organs. Both legs or both eyes would put an end to her cave raiding, but Belaf said he'd do everything he could to make sure she survived the process, so it's _possible_ she could have survived with like...a reduced life span or chronic problems or something. Kinda like Izumi from Fullmetal Alchemist losing parts of her insides. It seemed like a very Riko decision to make, and the idea of the journey in the abyss gradually taking from you little by little like that felt thematically fitting or something? Edit: I think the idea is that Prushka hadn't technically been carved into a White Whistle like the other White Whistles yet. I assume they all went through a carving process to turn them into actual whistles. Rubbing Prushka got the lift to move, but you couldn't really blow into her before the carving process.

Juroimoh technically isn't one of the original sages, but rather, he replaced Vueko when she was put in the pit. And the thing that slashed through the creature was just Reg's arm moving at incredible speed.

I don't think the "torturing" of Mitty was supposed to manipulate Nanachi. They basically said Belaf used her as an unending food source. And since Mitty was regenerating, Belaf eating her didn't reduce her value.

The redemption arc.. XD

Just a real quick note, though I don't remember too much off the top of my head, in Myth, Oroboros was an infinite snake that was eating it's own tail, it was a symbol of death and rebirth.
