I watched one episode and even though I thought it was gonna be great, I couldn't get the motivation to dive back in, so ~here I am~! Some things are easier for me to get through with "company", so I look forward to experiencing the show via your reactions! ^_^

This show was originally funded by a Kickstarter, with the goal of animating 2 episodes (what turned into the first two episodes with the dragon conflict). The kickstarter did so well (11+ million dollars), they were able to fund the rest of the season with different arc continuing after the first two episodes, which is why the pacing feels a bit quicker in the beginning. The first two episodes could be seen as a stand alone thing because they were originally intended to be just that. At some point in early development, Amazon picked it up and we got even *more* content.
So happy you're enjoying it! I hope it does well on YouTube (I'll be watching it there as well) and that we get to experience the show with you as you continue!

“Vox Machina” means Voice Machine, and the whole campaign is voice actors - that’s why the name is clever

The big purple hand is a spell called "Bigby's Hand" it's a lot more powerful than mage hand. Scanlan did use it a lot in the original campaign so it became a bit of a signature spell of his.

Glad to see you watching this. I'm assuming the high engagement you mentioned is from the CR fandom just being really dedicated.

also, this cast is stacked. Matt Mercer does do the voices for several of the NPCs, and a few of them do have Mercer's characteristics. You will be able to pick him out pretty easily in the future episodes.

Everytime I learn more about you in these videos, the more I know we would get along in the offline world! Fellow Druid ❤️
If you do decide while watching the show to then go and watch Critical Role's Campaign of Vox Machina, the start of the campaign where we can listen, is a bit different from what they started with the show.
But! Also because you like listening to music associated with the content you watch, you should look up the song Your Turn to Roll, it was written by Sam Riegel, who plays the Bard, and all of the main cast sings in it.

This is quite the fun watch. And the actual campaigns are available if you look them up. This series is campaign 1. They also have campaign 2 in the works of being produced as it's own animated series called "The Mighty Nein" which is most of the fanbases fave campaign of the three. But it's still in production. The third being what they are playing right now on youtube. All three take place in the same universe.
