Hazbin Hotel: Episode 7

...Cannibal Town

Hazbin Hotel: Episode 7

Comments

Very fun episode! Some notes from what viv has said about the show leading up to this point: "Ace in the hole" Alastor has been confirmed Asexual and Aromantic in the past, indeed making him an Ace (although since alastor is from the 20s he dosnt know much about those terms) In the song they say that charlie is "Like her daddy , she is Madly Powerful", its been confirmed that charlie is second in power in all of hell only to lucifer, or at the very least, potentially. Cannibal town itself is based on the 1910s asthetic and is featured more in the webcomic "Alastor: A day in the Afterlife" (although i do not see the original page anymore, it has many fandubs on youtube) Alastor being in Cannibal town is an interesting detail, he has a deer motif and we have seen him eat deer carcasses before, his "full demon" form resembles that of a wendigo, which in pop culture and some native american folklore/mythology is the result of cannibalism.

A lot of folks get hung up on Vaggie not knowing angels can be hurt and forget that just before that Vaggie had let a sinner go, both herself and Lute thought at that point she was *fallen*, and that made her vulnerable, rather than the angelic steel doing the heavy lifting. Personally I theorise that it wasn’t until this moment Vaggie became a fallen angel like Lucifer because when her wings come back they’re not the same color, they’re lighter grey with a white stripe instead of dark with a black stripe.

I like to think that Vaggie's ability to grow her own wings back is tied to her perception of herself. Up until now, we've seen she ties her self-worth to Charlie and her dreams. I think in one of the episodes she even says something like "If I can't help you, then what's the point of me?". So up until now, Vaggie really has felt like a fallen angel - like she's damaged goods. And in this episode, she starts to believe in herself and that allows her to grow her wings back where she wouldn't have been able to before. The show Lucifer experimented with this idea too - that an angel's perception of themselves was tied to the manifestation of their abilities (including their wings) and angels who doubted themselves began to "fall", not because god kicked them out of heaven, but because they believed they were no longer worthy. Not exactly what happened with Vaggie, but I still find the concept fascinating. I hope we get to see more of her character development in S2!

There's a theory that the cannibals are hellborn not sinners, though it's not been confirmed. Their town is based on the 1910s and they eat anyone who wanders through and looks like they're from a different era. Alistor gets along with them because he's from that time period and is a cannibal himself.

AH! Rosie is a beautiful character

Opal Evergreen

Rosie is hands down one of the most wholesome characters I've ever had the pleasure of meeting :3

Charlie's hooves aren't real, and they can't hurt you! XD

Heehee your defensiveness for Charlie is so fun 😂😂😂 A couple fun facts: 1) The voice actor for Nifty (Komiko) is the same voice actor for Susan. 2) Remember in episode 2 when the Vs were at their little meeting and Vox says “we can’t let Alastor make a deal with Charlie?” That’s why the deal between them gives an ick… 3) most of the ladies in this episode are SMOKIN🔥🥵 (that may be more of an opinion but let’s say it’s factual) lol I love your reactions to this show!! Tell your girlfriend I need some acupuncture too 😂😂🤘🏼

Rachhh🤭

Charlie hooves are very cute

Rosie! I love Rosie. She's tied with Alastor as my top favourite. I hope we get more of her in season 2.

Ace in the hole is a reference to his sexuality which is asexual. So Alastor doesn't know what that is since it was after his time. Just figured you would enjoy that little fact about Alastor. Also Vaggie's wings had been ripped off with brute force not angelic steel before. So she was able to grow them back at that point. So that's why they weren't there until this episode.
